Boy am I glad I left Kabul a few months ago. The roads leading to Kabul International Airport are sketchy as hell. I have a video of our convoy getting caught in the middle of the Afghan national soccer team victory parade on our way back from the airport. Thousands upon thousands of screaming Afghans crowding the streets, brushing right up against our trucks. What was normally a 20 minute drive took about 2 hours. And they were happy. I can't even imagine what that pissed off crowd would do. The Loya Jirga was bad enough. What a shiatstorm this has gotta be.

So, subby. What are you saying. That if the Afghans hadn't protested election fraud, then they would have understood how democracy works?

Are you even sure of where your own head is, subby?

I think you missed the key word, modern.  He made a funny that democracy doesn't exist because it is a system rigged by the rich to give the masses the illusion of choice in their overlords.

So Abdullahx2 (a guy known for tossing these accusations around and who has basically just been hanging on Massoud's ghostly coattails for 13 years) got wind that it's not looking good for him and he probably lost (which is for the best, Ghani's the better candidate) so he's preemptively alleging fraud before even preliminary numbers are announced (after which there are legal routes to investigate possible fraud). Sounds like another case of him being a sore loser. I haven't heard any independent allegations or seen any evidence of substantial fraud this election. But if you don't get your way at the polls, you can at least deeply divide your country and erode trust in government. That should work out well.

Come now, subby, we know that election fraud doesn't exist, which is why voter id laws are so terrible, because no one is convicted of election fraud. Just like banking fraud doesn't exist because no one gets convicted of it, either.

So you believe that the U.S. is as corrupt as Afghanistan? Do you have any evidence of this, or is it just something you know in your "heart"?

I'd say the US is worse.  Having spent quite a bit of time in 3rd world countries and banana republics growing up, at least in those everyone is aware of the corruption and everyone knows who is paying off who.  The same goes on the USA, but for some reason people act like it doesn't happen here.   It most certainly does and it's hidden, which IS worse.  And yes, I have seen some of it first-hand.

I'm from Miami.  Wonderful town where the dead vote.   All new immigrants are autolisted as Republican.  Guys go to retirement homes and get absentee ballots for the elderly.  Great place.

Voting fraud goes on, I agree we need laws for it.  However the laws put in place amount to nothing more than a poll tax.  They also don't stop where the real fraud is happening (as I just outlined).

Funny, La Republica de Miami is exactly where I was thinking of in terms of US voter fraud.   Indeed, not only do the dead vote, they vote multiple times at multiple precincts in the same election.
