The record for most 3 pointers attempted in a season is by George McCloud, 678 during the '95-96 season. Go ahead and get your prop bets for JR Smith breaking that record in early.

Bulls seem to be the leading candidate right now. They can either amnesty Boozer, or maybe trade him (expiring) with some picks.

I posted in another thread that whileI dislike Lebron, I'd be ecstatic to have him join the Raptors.

Just the first part for Carmelo.

People have been trying to float the Clippers trading some talent for a Lebron or Carmelo.  Not that I believe it, but new owners do tend to like to make a splash.

Gee, who would want to turn away a high scoring, poor percentage shooting, selfish veteran who's never won it all or brought success to his teams? As much as I can't stand LeBron, he is a phenomenal player who's won it all. Carmelo is just another ball hog.

Bulls are gunning for this guy big time. Even Thibs made public mention of his desire to see him here - which is rare for a man like Thibs. And I'll take his word on Melo's character and ability - he's coached him before.

Bulls could use the offense; I'd like to see him come here.

So Melo was researching "what it's like to be famous in Chicago" instead of "how to win a playoff series?"

Break a leg, Carmelo.

Simmons was floating the idea of the Bulls not only signing Carmelo, but trading for Afflalo as well. Not sure how they would make the numbers work getting both of them, but holy cow. Rose, Afflalo, Melo, Noah and Gibson? With a bench lead but Augustin (assuming they could resign him), Butler, and Dunleavy? If they all buy in to Thibs and Rose can finish a season, look the hell out.

Maybe like Monta being In Dallas under Carlisle, Thibs can reign this asshat in and make him play team hoops.

Have to laugh seeing how bad, and how poorly, Anthony played his hand in Denver when he wanted to go to New York.  Not so good there, huh 'Melo?

Lost a lost of respect for the guy when he punched Nate Robinson and ran like a girl.

The thing that still gets me is why do people want to play in New York?  Their teams are never good and they've been run by idiots for a long time with small periods of prosperity.  Being in a big city doesn't make you good and it makes you mildly more rich(of course you give it all up in higher income tax)

Who was the best player Denver put around him?  I think he had the understanding the the Knicks were going to spend some money.  They did that but are the Knicks.

Great organizations win in the NBA and that is why great talents tend to migrate there.  Notice that the Lakers are having a hell of a time finding talent for their roster and coaching vacancy since Dr. Buss died?  I dont think that is a coincidence.

Didn't see enough to change my opinion of him as a non-winner. Did see his crib on some crappy TV show.

He has amazing physical talent but his head isn't where it needs to be.

How was he supposed to win with the Knicks roster this year?  The only reason the Knicks won 4 games this season is because of Melo.  The guy had a monster season and I do not blame him for getting the fark out of NY.  He went there to make it work, it didnt work, so he is moving on.  Why is this frowned upon?

So here'es the new rumor:

Melo, LeBron, & Love have all conspired. Melo and LeBron will both opt out. Love will be traded for a first round pick or two. All three will join forces in Chicago. To make the Numbers work, all of them have agreed to take a  one year, 5 million dollar deal each. The goal isn't money this year, it's a ring and destroying every record the NBA has to serve up.

Next year they all re-sign elsewhere for max deals.

Also, he is an amazing offensive talent.  The dissertation that "his head isnt where it needs to be" is a bunch of bullshiat sports page narrative nonsense.  The guy does not have what it takes to be an elite defender but I see very few plays out of Melo that make me question that he is anything but devoted to basketball and the success of his team.

They need to allow goaltending in Basketball.  Or rugby rules.  A game without realistic defense is a boring game.

If he goes to Chicago, who does he have with him? Noah's a great defensive center, and Jimmy Butler is a nice piece on the wing, but they don't really have any solid players beyond those three now that Deng is gone, assuming they have to amnesty Boozer to make the salaries work. Thibs will get them to play hard every game, and in the weak East I could certainly see them sneaking into the ECF, but a Melo-Noah-Butler big 3 would get absolutely killed by any of the Spurs, Clippers, Thunder, or Rockets.

Not sure Camby's and Chauncey's knees would have held up.

Not even the idiots on ESPN radio blamed 'Melo for the Knicks this year. From what I hear, 'Melo came to play every night, hustled for rebounds, and shot the ball so much because the Knicks just didn't have anybody else. Sounds like the kind of guy I'd want on my team. Sounds like 'Melo realized what the LeBron did: you can't carry an NBA team by yourself.

Anthony had just married LaLing, LoLing, Wham-bam-a-ling....some MTV VJ, and wanted to expand his marketability while playing at MSG.  Bright lights, big city.

Denver had a terrific trade set-up with the (then) NJ Nets, but he had to be on the other side of the Hudson, and Dolan was more than happy to mortgage his future on Anthony (and Stoudamire).

I forgot about Gibson, but does anyone here seriously think Derrick Rose is the answer to anything? You might as well say that the Blazers are the favorites next year because they'll be adding a healed-up Brandon Roy to an already good team.

I think a healthy Rose and company plus Melo makes them the favorites in the East. Indiana just seems to be coming apart at the seams and Miami's struggles will only continue to grow if the current roster remains. I wonder if Wade even has another season in him and LeBron and Bosh can't do it alone.

And I think Bulls fans are being realistic that being the favorite in the East means you still have a hill a climb when it comes to the West. But the Bulls need offense and if Rose stays healthy and Melo comes to Chicago (and buys into Thibs' program - big question mark there), they are definitely a contender.

C'mon, teams, line up to get the talent that won all those championships for Denver and New York!
