A kid in my high school was almost killed trying to hold onto a sheet of plywood in a pickup truck, and they were only going about 30 MPH.

They had something EXACTLY like this on '1000 Ways To Die' a while back. Damn, I wish that show was still on. They're missing out on so many of the new and improved ways people are getting themselves killed nowadays!

Possible....except for feather beds...when obvious flight potential becomes obvious.

Should've had a dog sit on it.  Everyone knows dogs never fly out of pick up trucks.

I'm sure that hefty, comprehensive health insurance policy he owns will cover all the bills.

Sounds like bullshiat to me.  Let's load up the pickup and you hold onto my beer while I show you something.

His mistake was that he did not get clearance from the Tower.    big dummy.

Isn't it kindof assumed that they've already failed to hold down the mattress if it's airborne...?

I saw a dude die this way. Guy from the article may have been doing it wrong.

At least he had a mattress to land on.

But seriously, a set of tie down straps are about $20 for a set of 4.  If you have a truck, you should have have a set.

Hmm, a good alibi for a male prostitute who was offering "roadside assistance."

FTFA:  "According to KSLA, the man was riding in the back of the vehicle on the Kings Highway in  Los Angeles"

According to the KSLA link, "SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) - A man is recovering in a Shreveport hospital after flying out of the back of a pickup truck"

If I may say so, he flew a long dang way!!

Several years ago, someone in Panama City, FL, decided they would let their kid hold down the new wading pool he had just bought him, in the back of the pickup.  Kid got sucked out of the back, as the truck drove down the road, and ran over by a following vehicle.  Sadly the little boy died.  Remember people, bungie cord is for holding down loads, not people.

It's too bad he didn't have anything nice and soft under him to land on...
