I've always enjoyed it.

I watched it again recently and no, it's still pretty terrible. It's basically a beat for beat rehash of the original except no one looks like they want to be there, especially Bill. And they use mood slime to pilot the Statue of Liberty (yes, that is stupider than the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man).

Sadly, this.  It was a movie so bad even Bill Murray could't make it funny...

I just let my son watch it on the iPad this morning. Yes, it is every bit as awful as I remembered. In fact, hearing some of the dreadful music on the soundtrack for the first time in a quarter century actually may have made it worse than I remembered.

"HE IS VIGO!"

And yeah, I loved the sequel too. Peter MacNicol was probably the highlight of the movie.

I enjoyed it then, I enjoy it now. The biggest difference between the first and second movie is that the jokes in the second one seem to be a little more forced. Alas, I though they were funny, so I'm OK with that.

Is this true?

I still like it too.  Peter MacNichol is overacting so hard on purpose that i find it really comedic.

Yes. This sequel has no dick.

Dana: It's late, I really ought to put him down.
Dr. Peter Venkman: May I?
Dana: Yeah, if you want to.

oh come on. How can you hate the film that gave us "the scourge of Carpathia, the sorrow of Moldavia..."??

I haven't watched it in a long time but I recall enjoying it.

I watched it again about 5 years ago and I thought it still sucked.

I've a good memory-and no....No, it doesn't. AFAIC, there's only one "Ghostbusters" flick-and it's fantastic!

2014-06-21 01:32:14 PM
Are there actually people that hate Ghostbusters 2? What the fark is wrong you. Does the river of pink slime, full of all the anger and hate of the people in your city flow and converge under your workplace?(it sure does for me)

Egon: Go ahead, Ray!
Ray:  You! You worthless piece of slime! You ignorant disgusting blob!
slime : twitches
Egon: You're nothing but an unstable short-chained molecule!
Ray: You foul obnoxious muck!
Slime: bubbles dangerously with every insult
Egon: You have a weak electrochemical bond!
Slime: starts to bubble over
Ray: I have seen some disgusting crud in my time, but you take the cake!
Peter Venkman: This is what you do with your spare time?

Ghostbusters 2 is only bad when you compare it to Ghostbusters 1, which I guess you kind of have to do.
/I still like it OK.

2014-06-21 02:09:26 PM
In overall tone, Ghostbusters 2 wasn't so much a sequel to the 1984 film ... as it was a live-action adaptation of The Real Ghostbusters Saturday morning cartoon.

I never knew how shiatty ghostbusters 2 was until I was much older and realized for farking good Ghostbusters 1 is. I can't watch GB2. It just sucks so hard.

eh, I watched it recently and while it has its good moments, it's not really that good as a whole. If it's not bad, it's definitely not as good as its predecessor.

2014-06-21 02:18:43 PM
The only good memories of Ghost Busters 2 I have is that it was during this awful movie I first made it to second base.

2014-06-21 02:21:06 PM
I don't remember much, but it had it's moments while giving the audience a lower-quality copy of the first movie. What do you expect from sequels? The bits where the GB's try to fake their way out of getting caught digging a hole in the street ("Those phone lines are over there. What did I say? How many times?") and where the Titanic arrived ("Better late than never.") made me chuckle.

"I remember how my great-uncle Jerry would sit on the porch and whittle all day long. Once he whittled me a toy boat out of a larger toy boat I had. It was almost as good as the first one, except now it had bumpy whittle marks all over it. And no paint, because he had whittled off the paint." - Jack Handey

said it before, I say it again.

BILL farking MURRAY hates the movie.  hates it so bad he won't do a third film.  AND HE DID GARFIELD.

That right there is how bad GB2 is.

Ghostbusters is an amazing film, it holds up well, and altho a bit dated because 80's, remains very watchable and supremely funny.

Then someone ate a copy of the film and took a shiat, and that turd became GB2.  NO, it doesn't hold up.  AT ALL.  It is terrible.  Howard the Duck farking BAD.

2014-06-21 02:27:02 PM
The only thing I greatly disliked about the movie was why, at the beginning they were jokes song birthday parties. A huge chunk of New York was destroyed, covered in living marshmallow goo, and overrun with spirits and they were all saved by the Ghostbusters. How did the entire world forget that much less New York?

That aside, not as good as the first, still better than most.

I swear we have the same conversations on Fark weekly now.  But I'll still repeat myself:

It was an ok movie and my biggest problem was Rick Moranis being shoehorned in.
Louis had no reason to be there and was only there as fan-service.

Same with Dana.  The whole thing focusing around her again was just "We need Signorney Weaver" in this movie.

(and I didn't like them making Janine into the cartoon version of Janine)

I argued that recently with some fine farkers, and was told "oh, mass hallucinations" and I was like you realize this was the 80's right, and news helicopters would have been filming it.

Yeah, no, the Ghostbusters proved the supernatural was real.  They would not have been slumming at birthday parties for cash,

Bill kept being wishy washy about doing a GB3, not a solid "no". I think he wanted a script that motivated him (obviously not happening now, probably for the best). He probably did 2 Garfields because he didn't give a shiat about it in the first place.

/has heard that the video game is a suitable GB3.

There are some sequels I don't mind, Matrix for example was pretty good, Ghostbusters I couldn't understand how they fubar'd the movie so bad, I mean its science fiction - they should of had an amazing script.

I don't think I've seen GB2 in a number of years, don't really have any interest in doing so. When Harold passed away, I watched GB1 and Stripes - got a good chuckle out of both. Still pissed Harold put "Groundhog day" upon us...

the GB video game IS Ghostbusters 3.  It just isn't all that good.  It has moments, and is a better game than GB2 is a film, but it isn't great.

buntz: my biggest problem was Rick Moranis being shoehorned in

Rick Moranis' character being in the film has nothing to do with the movie sucking.  That's like people claiming that CGI ruined the Star Wars prequels.

This is pretty obscure, but do any of you farkers remember that really annoying over acting red headed extra in the crowd scene near the end of the first movie?
For some reason that guy always annoyed the shiat out of me.

the Matrix sequels are not great, but the chase sequence in reloaded is a fantastic scene, arguably better that any single scene in the original film.

Reloaded actually wasn't bad up until the end when Neo used is powers in the real world and Smith possessed someone. But they were filmed back to back and since M3 sucked so hard, most people agree that it should have ended with the original. I'm not even sure they had an idea for sequels when they made the first.

I loved it when it came out. Of course, I was 9 years old twenty five years ago. I haven't seen it since though. Maybe there will be some Netflix in order later. I think I saw it on there.

I agree completely. I had no problem believing this part of the movie.
