It's not safe for the common folk.

2014-06-20 09:39:49 PM
It is their money.

2014-06-20 10:34:24 PM
Are you kidding? Do you know how excited some little kids would be to have that? If I had the money, I'd do it.
and then when they outgrow it, I can afford to have the whole place redone.

2014-06-20 11:36:58 PM
They have roughly eleventy bajillion dollars and a shiatload of kids, why wouldn't they build a skate park?

Of all the movies she's done THAT'S the one they go with?

Hell, my dad built a regulation pitching mound in our backyard so my brother could work on his pitching. All the common folk came over to see it.

/subby sounds butthurt

I think she was particularly impressive in Original Sin.

Well, you can't have them mingling with paparazzi, which being Pitt and Jolie's kids, is liable to happen to them every time they step outside their house. Paparazzi are why we can't have nice things.

Uh, subbmitard, sometimes parents do something to foster a kids interest, people with more money can do it on a grander scale.

I just looked at her imdb page.  Wow,   she's made a lot of shiatty movies.   Gia,  Playing God and Girl Interrupted are my personal favs.

Presumptuous and judgemental headline reeks of butthurt.

I wonder how many Cambodian orphans could have been saved for even 10% of the price of this indulgence?

2014-06-21 12:08:15 AM
Am I missing something? I see a small bowl and a rail. That isn't a 'Multimillion Dollar' skatepark.

2014-06-21 12:10:15 AM
If I had the money I'd build one for myself, who cares about the kids.  I did have a kick ass ramp in backyard growing up.  6 feet high, 16 feet wide, 20 feet of flat, 50 feet from edge of backdrop to backdrop..  Fast as hell and it had lights.  Also owned a part of a vert ramp on the edge of town that had another mini ramp with a hip.

I guess I did have my own skatepark.

Their house is modest. Where is the golf course, the helipad? It's not even located on a private island. Just do a GIS for Hamptons Mansion and you'll see what I'm talking about.

2014-06-21 12:23:36 AM
If I had that kind of money, I'd build a cool place with caves, waterfalls, pools, waterslides, gardens, ponds, artificial rain and thunder, indoor-boat rides and the entire thing would be tiki themed. Then I'd find some cute girls that wanted to be sister-wives and we'd spend the rest of my days having tickle fights, getting back-rubs, rewriting the Kama Sutra, watching movies, eating fine food and drinking fat wines. And I would give less than two farks what anyone thought... My main concern would be maintaining the place and trying to make extra sure my sister wives and our animal menagerie were as happy as we could all possibly be.  Imagine 'Witches of Eastwick' meets Playboy Mansion.

Awesome. Lucky kids.

2014-06-21 12:27:55 AM
This reminds me of the time I bought an entire amusement park just so I wouldn't have to wait in line.

Ya, usually I'm the first one to say that celebrities have over inflated egos and are pompous jackasses but I really have no problem with this.  Hardly any different then say building a pool in your yard.

So if you're rich, it's OK to build a tennis court, basketball court, swimming pool, putting green, etc. so you "don't have to mingle with the common folk." But if you build a skate park, suddenly you're elitist? Some other headlines you could have gone with, subby:

If you're an A-list celebrity couple and YOU'RE FARKING AWESOME you could build a skate park in your backyard for your kids and their friends.

If you're an A-list celebrity couple dealing with stalkers, death threats, and paparazzi every single day of your life, you could build a skate park at your house where your kids are safer.

2014-06-21 02:51:36 AM
I'm surprised they've been together this long. Don't most Hollywood relationships last a few months?

2014-06-21 02:58:46 AM
If by "regular folk" you mean lunatics and paparazzi, yes.  I'm sure they don't want them mingling with them.  I wouldn't either.

2014-06-21 03:04:37 AM
Oh the bourgeoisie and their backyard pools.    Why don't you swim in the municipal pools with the rest of the proletariat?   What?   You're too good to swim in gallons of chlorinated urine like the rest of us?

And don't even get me started on basketball hoops in driveways.

Except from drone aircraft, apparently.

What's so bad about this really? I mean, they do have like a gigitybajillion dollars, and a skate thingy doesn't seem ridiculously extravagant. OMG they want their kids to be active and play outside!

2014-06-21 03:44:32 AM
Subby sounds butt hurt that his parents didn't build him a skate park in his backyard. It's ok subby my parents wouldn't even get me cabbage patch doll when I was young.

If I had a big yard, extra funds and kids who liked skateboarding I'd do the same thing. Why not?

My aunt and uncle had a few acres and my cousins raced dirt bikes so they built a track with jumps and everything for them to practice on.

She basically stole that movie from that other actress who's name we have all forgotten. I saw that movie in the theater (date movie). She blew me away. She was like a female Randall Patrick McMurphey.

Common folk are overrated anyways.

Wealthy people like to insulate themselves from riff-raff. Being able to do that is one of the biggest draws of possessing wealth.

My cousin did the same thing in his basement, because he wanted his son to have year round practice.  He did set up a soft backstop to protect the rest of the house.

I recall many kids I grew up with building half-pipes in their yards, so this is far from new.  Although, Dale Jr's personal dirt track is the first thing to come to mind when I read this story, and I know a few folks who've done their own bike dirt tracks on their property.

/subby forgot Americans like doing this sort of thing.
//he must be butt hurt from the videos of dads setting up ice rinks as well.

whatshisname: I wonder how many Cambodian orphans could have been saved for even 10% of the price of this indulgence?

Depends. How many are you sending 5$ a month to?  You get to throw that particular stone when you do more than shiat on people on the internet, because somehow I doubt you have.

It's like someone complaining that Gates has more money than God, without, you know, realizing that he's the leading contributor, globally, to the anti-malaria campaigns and malaria cures.

Unless Rob Drydek helped design the park, this is a fail.

A pool with a kick-ass, loop-the-loop waterslide would be my preference over a skatepark, though.

There's almost nothing I can think of that I could care about less than this.

Romero Tip: Rich people often have large estates, and "build" things on them in order to recreate, like tennis courts, pools, and skateparks.

it's partly your money.   they would not have made a dime had they been born in somalia.
