She is reprehensible.

I thought she was great in "Jennifer's Body," other than that, she was just really nice to look at.  I always thought it was weird though that in one picture she would be banging hot and the next she would just look...weird.  Is there such as thing as inconsistent hotness?

Yes. It is called the Billie Piper effect.

I'm pretty sure that's not how it works. You get it from porking truckers for extra cash to buy 2 liters of Dr. Pepper and cough syrup to put in your toddler's sippy cup so he will SHUT THE HELL UP JUNIOR.

Maybe if her heart isn't doing it for her anymore, she could try applying her brain. She's not retarded, and she has time and money. There is nothing stopping her from actually learning the formal skills of her craft, and actually becoming a skilled actor. She still might turn out to be as untalented as she seems to be, but who knows. It would be more productive than biatching and moaning.

Billie Piper was at Awesome-Con in DC this year.  She photographs weird, but in person she's very attractive.  On the flip side of that, I saw Elizabeth Hurley IRL and she was pretty, but also odd looking.  Like her head was too big for her body.  Or maybe her teeth were too big for her face.  Either way, she photographs extremely well but looks a little unusual in person.  Kate Moss suffers from the same thing.

On the male side, I stood next to fat Jon Travolta in 2002 and he's a lot smaller in person than you'd think.  I'm 5'10" at best and he was shorter than I was.  However, he looks EXACTLY like every photograph you've ever seen of him.  It was unnerving, like a moving wax statue or something.

Every picture I've seen of him his head is tilted with his mouth slightly agape. I think he should invest in a chin strap.

Also, wig or plugs? His hair looks like someone stunned a badger and slapped it on his head.

Along the lines of real life vs. photographing well; years ago we went to a Battlebots taping when Carmen Electra was the hot-chick personality. She looked really weird in-person, although I kinda blamed the makeup they had on her to look good on camera.

/When she walked out of the arena, everyone cheered. She thought it was for her, but it was for her leaving.

About 7 years ago I saw Paris Hilton and Pamela Anderson at a red carpet event. Paris looked exactly like she does in photos, and is well trained at how to pose and work the photographers. Pamela Anderson looked surprisingly good, to be honest. I remember thinking that I had never seen a body shaped that way before - like super curvy in a good way, but petite at the same time, like out of a comic book. I think sometimes the tabloids decide "so-and-so is ugly," so they run only the most unflattering photos that fit that narrative, and then people get a skewed impression. That was also 7 years ago, so she could have aged really terribly since then.

I work on a movie lot and I also go to a lot of film screenings where stars do Q&A afterward, so I've seen a lot of celebs. A few other impressions:

Clooney looks exactly like Clooney, and is surprisingly funny. Affleck looks like Affleck. Damon I didn't even recognize - I actually thought he was a no-show for the film screening I was at, and then I realized that he was standing right there. He looks very plain and almost norm-core in person - the makeup and lighting people make that dude look like a movie star. (I got a very positive and humble vibe from him, though.) Sandler looks just like he does in the movies, which isn't a surprise since he seems to roll out of bed and right onto the set. The other day I watched Bradley Cooper walk right by a tour group full of tourists and not a single person recognized him. Likewise, Channing Tatum seems like your typical jeans-and-a-Tshirt guy who can blend in well for being such a sex symbol. Emma Stone rolled her eyes at me once, but looked exactly like she does in the movies while doing it. Andrew Garfield looks like himself, too, and was super cool to a fan who stopped him for a photo and autograph outside of a hotel. Guy Pearce looks like kind of a bad ass in person and is really gracious and professional - that dude should be working more, really. Maggie Grace looks stunningly beautiful in person, even when she's obviously hungover and hasn't slept. Wilmer Valderrama is tough to recognize in person, but I think that's because he played such an extreme caricature on That 70's Show that, like the dude who played Urkel, when he's just acting like a normal person you don't recognize him.

By and large, the men are almost always shorter than you expect, and the women are usually even hotter than you expect.

I saw Megan Fox from about 4' away at a premiere. Her body was phenomenal but her face was really strange. She was really heavily made up as it was a premiere and the cameras just don't stop when the star is in front of the screen ... the flashes are just a rapid strobe.

She seemed nice to the fans that were in front of me ... in fact she came over to the fence to see them and she really didn't have to.

However, Fox insists she won't disappear from the big screen completely: "I have to make one movie a year because I have to invest in their future and I have to be able to pay their way through college and be able to provide for them."

I highly doubt one porno a year is going to pay for the kids psychologist let alone their college.

My wife is in love with her, but when watching Doctor Who I noticed she had a very wide range of looks. At the top end she has great "fark me" eyes. At the low end she is Manjaw McLongtooth.

If you ever get a wild hair, find a way to watch "The Mating Habits of The Earth-bound Human". Carmen Electra and Eric Stolz with Niles Crane narrating. She is sexy as hell and the movie is surprisingly hilarious.

"Remember, the female can emit no scent to signal her readiness."

As for celebrities in person, the absolute hottest I ever saw was Natalie Portman. Rose McGowan was a close second (Grindhouse premier). As for the dudes, Ryan Reynolds is his character from Waiting in person, and can make a theater full of women melt with a smile. Too bad he's a douche when he's not working the public. Rebecca DeMornay also looks pretty good in person, even recently.

When I saw him?  It was a weaved wig.  Granted it was 2002, but he was sporting the shaved look and I was close enough to see the fabric base because he was sweaty.  It was during his Qantas tour when he flew his plane around the world for publicity.  He was wearing a captain's outfit the entire time, which I thought was weird since he was flying a private plane.

Courtney Love (at least in the early 90s) was surprisingly charming, intelligent, kind, and beautiful in person. She was also fun, of course, and definitely with a wild streak, but it was pretty clear that a lot of her stage presence was part of the show when she was not in the spotlight or surrounded by an audience. Her wit was quick (and a bit dark, and a lot dirty) but she was in no way malicious or mean. She was, however, not the type to sugar-coat anything. She was blunt. She didn't seem to be a fan of bullshiatting people just to be polite.

David Bowie oozes charisma. Straight dudes were getting hot when he was near. I am rarely tongue-tied, having what they call "the gift of gab" and experience performing in front of audiences with little problem, but when Bowie was within 10 feet of me I couldn't speak a damn word that made any sense. I supposed it didn't help that I idolized the hell out of him as a teenager, and I had my opportunity to meet him in my 20s. Because of my stunned status, I blew it completely and he smiled at me sympathetically (but politely), and walked on to the next people he was to meet. He was a busy man.

Marilyn Manson is a sulking, unpleasant little weenie. He tended to sneer and complain a lot.

Daniel Ash is a flashy-but-friendly fellow who maintains a rather handsome appearance when in character. His wardrobe and hair are quite excellent.

The Cure are all quite friendly fellows and look well-preserved considering how much they've toured. Robert's super-shy, though, and I didn't get to talk to him as he hid away on the bus rather quickly.

Prince is aloof, super-short, and does not look his age. He also oozes charisma when he's not being preachy. The preaching just kills it dead. Still, the guy can smile at you and you feel like the gods have pointed a spotlight at you. He's one charming motherfarker.

Peter Murphy is quiet, polite, humble to fans, and looks like a man who has seen much in his time on Earth. You could kind of tell, however, that there was a bit of a temper underneath his serene veneer... When I met him, I kind of felt like I was meeting Bruce Banner or Dr. Jeckyl.

Dale Bozzio was hot. Super hot. In the 80s. Legs that kept going. Oozing sex appeal and confidence.

Sherri Martel was TALL! She didn't seem that tall on TV, but man, was she tall and muscular, and quite stunning to look upon.

Randy Savage was imposing, huge, and a really great guy as far as the way he dealt with fans. He placed his hand on my shoulder, shook my hand firmly, and said, "Thanks  for coming to the show, I really APPRECIATEyour support. I'm glad to meet'cha,YEAH!"

One thing that I've heard is that movie cameras favor people with larger heads. I don't know why that would be, but it's what I have heard. So, by that theory, many movie stars should have freakishly large heads. It's also something I cannot verify.

That's surprising to hear. I heard from a doorman at a bar he frequented that he was a really cool, down-to-earth dude. That guy did not have same opinion of Kevin Spacey, though, who supposedly used to show up at the same place with his boy toys.
