"America is struggling," he told a mob of reporters after the vote. "We're struggling with a stagnant economy, a failed health care law, and so many are living paycheck to paycheck. They are looking for individuals that put people before politics."

Why should we believe you this time?

Oh, that's right.  We shouldn't have taken you at your word the first time around.

Amazing. 5 factual points in that quote and 4 are outright lies.  The only one that is true is that America is struggling, but it's with scorched earth politics from the GOP.

When reality disagrees with your rhetoric, just deny reality.

Because honestly, it's much easier than actually accomplishing things, changing your tactics, or making your political product more attractive to voters.  You can't change reality.  But you can influence people's perception of it.

Because we as a nation believe in repeating the same actions and expecting different results every time.

I don't know what experts call our behavior but I think it's supposed to be an admirable quality.

Name them.  And please explain to us why you haven't tried to implement them in the last few years of controlling the House.

"America is struggling," he told a mob of reporters after the vote. "We're struggling with a stagnant economy, a failed health care law, and so many are living paycheck to paycheck. They are looking for individuals that put people before politics."

He was able to say this with a straight face?  The GOP haven't put ANYTHING before politics in the past six years.  I doubt they're going to change now.

Scalise said. "We've got solid conservative solutions that are going to solve the problems facing our country."

Unfortunately the specifics of those "solutions" appear to be very top secret that only the Republicans are allowed to know anything about.

"This is a win for America because we are going to be a more united team moving forward."

Glad to see Scalise is a "glass is half full" kind of guy, but the Tea Party is still going to make life miserable for Boehner, and every single one of their "conservative solutions" will be DOA in the Senate.

So more naming bridges then.

Raul Labrador was right.  Putting Mcshiatstain in as head dickcheese was proof the Rapeublicans are blatently ignoring their base.  I predict more big players to get whipped in the primaries by Tea Party twits

Came to bring that point up. They don't give a sh*t. But I guess that is why they are called "talking points" and not "we are actually going to do something about this issue" points.

It says a lot that the best we can hope for is that the Democrats retain control of the Senate so that our government remains ineffective

That might solve a lot of the problems with the House.  Just not in the way the GOP wants.

Obama deserves to be impeached for his NSA program.

Since the administration refuses to submit to judicial review, let's see how they like a review by the House.

If you don't have any ideas then fall back on the whole plan thing.  Economy, we got a plan, no details at this time.  Healthcare, security, foreign policy all just some vague plan that is better than than what we have now, vaporware

"I pledge to you that we shall have an honorable end to the war in Vietnam." - R. Nixon 1968, either there was never a plan or when elected he found out how wrong he was.

Funny enough I wanted my login to be "Don't Panic". But that was taken. So I ended up with the complete opposite.

Mistakes were made.

You chose me to be your leader, so today, I make a strong promise and a commitment:

I swear that I will try to make the effort to consider thinking about possibly attempting to do something I have not yet envisioned. Our most sincere ambitions are ahead of us. I hope you'll join me there.

Thank you. Thank you very much.

I would really like a job where I got paid nearly $200k per year, had amazing benefits, and I had to do as little as a GOP Congressman actually does.

"Your job description is to sit around in a big building and occasionally make a remark at how evil Obama is."

SIGN ME UP!

I would be the absolute best at doing nothing.  Of all the people who did nothing, I would do nothing better than any of them could possibly imagine.  I would be known in history books for all the nothing I accomplished.

You wanna be depressed?

Your actual primary job function as Congressperson is to fundraise for the next campaign cycle.

// of course, for $200k/year and generous benefits, I'd work a call center full-time

Boy for a bunch of guys who have rammed their heads into the wall there are not nearly enough of then hanging by exercise equipment after they've murdered their families and suing the National GOP for extended CTE damage

I wonder how much of that is driven by the relatively short period between elections by the majority of Congresscritters.

For some reason, the country is far too eager to forgive the right's fark-ups way too quickly. 'Oh sure, they did massive damage from 2001 to 2008. Let's give them another chance in 2010. That won't end badly!'

It's always so weird hearing a Republican complaining about how people don't get paid enough when they've proven themselves against any kind of reform that might change that. Increases in the minimum wage, better benefits, affordable health insurance, better working conditions, they're against it all.

Their ideas are, literally, to do as little as possible and let the magic of the Free Market sprinkle wealth and happiness on the faces of Americans.

It's why this is the most historic do-nothing Congress in our nation's history.
