(Huffington Post)   President Obama has issued the fewest executive orders of any President since Grover Cleveland in the 1890s. Obviously, this means he can't even be a lawless, power mad dictatorial usurper correctly   (huffingtonpost.com ) divider line 90

Subby, which you would rather have: a guy empty his Gat at you, say 20 bullets in all, but only graze you with a few shots, or a guy walk up to you with a sawed-off shotgun and blast you in the face?

Sometimes, it's not how many that matters. Remember that.

How incompetent is this guy? Can't be an empty suit. Can't be a tyrannical dictator. Can't be a war monger. Can't be a kill crazed lunatic with the most powerful military in the world. Hasn't thrown millions into FEMA camps. Hasn't made Islam our national religion with hundreds of thousands of Islamic extremists as the white peoples' jailers. How can we trust this man to DO anything right?

His very first executive order was to suppress counting executive orders.

It's not the executive orders. Obama's too crafty for that. Executive orders leave a paper trail. It's the other things, like how he outlawed Christianity. You won't find a law about that, there's nothing written down on paper, it's just a fact.

Why is it that you people always start deflecting when someone starts pointing out how horrible, mean & anti traditional American values Obama is?

Its not like he's been targeted by the right for any nefarious purposes.

So stop with the comparisons of presidents of the past, there is none. Obama is exactly as bad as the right makes him out to be.

I think a lot of it is they've ideologically painted themselves into a corner. The conservative ideologues have spent so long preaching purity above governance, that compromise is seen as weakness. And part of it is trying to paint Obama as a failure at every turn as a preemptive strike on history to prevent future generations from realizing just how much of a miserable, abject failure the Bush Administration revealed conservatism to be.

I refuse to believe these "facts". Fox News and the GOP have convinced me that Obama INVENTED the Executive Order, and the first one was the Executive Order that established the practice of issuing Executive Orders.

We all know it doesn't matter what he does because reality has fark all to do with what almost half the country thinks about him. He could cure cancer and HIV, establish an Earth colony on Mars, broker a lasting peace between Israel and Palestine, make the US economy healthier than at any point in history and bring back all our manufacturing jobs, and they'd still say he's history's worst monster. It just farking doesn't matter when you're dealing with people who live inside their own, made-up version of "reality." He's not the problem, they are.

In the Republican attorney general primary here, one of the candidates ran ads blasting the other for voting for Democrats.  Not that she has liberal causes or positions, just the fact that she had not voted straight ticket Republican her entire life made her unfit to be AG.  (The "RINO" won in a runoff).

I had dinner with the former CEO of a large company last night, to celebrate his birthday.  This guy has always carried an anti-Obama stance, every time I've spoken with him.  It's just a fundamental difference of thought on what, politically, the government should do, where the president fits into the general scheme of things, what socially progressive policies should be put in place and how they should be carried out, etc.  He just differs with everything about the current administration.

One of the other guys at dinner is a card-carrying liberal, and has pushed the point of some of the liberal agenda items (using that term as an identifier rather than a condemnation) to the point of nearly bringing discussions to fisticuffs.  He asked the former CEO what he thought of the president's tenure thus far.

The answer was: Politically speaking, I hate the guy, but I must say he's been a huge boon to me, personally, and my holdings have never been stronger.

In short: Thanks Obama!

/the differences, at list in his case, seem to be that he thinks the government does too much enabling and not enough to help.

and is he an elitist ivy-league intellectual or a moron who hides his transcripts?

and is he a marxist-communist or a tool of wall street bankers?

i'm trying to update my talking points...

I'm confused.  The CEO who's never done better hates Obama for enabling him and his ilk too much? Or is he mad because they are "enabling" someone else to do something that's affecting him positively, if at all?

The CEO hates Obama, basically, because he's a democrat.  The enabling is about what government policy tends to do with the folks who need assistance (throw a bunch of money at a problem and it's sure to go away).  He disagrees not so much on whether assistance should be given but rather in how it's carried out.

The enabling his ilk, he's fine with ;-)

Your average Republican CEO Douchebag DOES NOT want to help people.

Your average Republican CEO Douchebag wants to be a Holy King ruling over a bunch of peasants, that he has the power of life/death over.

Feudalism is the conservative dream. Helping people isn't part of that, unless you want to count "Letting people work for you in exchange for providing them subsistence levels of food and shelter" as "helping".

It's confusing but you, too, can follow along if you keep to these few simple rules: thumb:

1) He's a moron who hides his transcripts AND an Ivy league intellectual.  All people with Ivy league educations are actually idiots and people with no formal education are better at things like economics and science because they have common sense.

2)  He's a Kenyan atheist who doesn't believe in God, but DOES believe in having Muslims take over America.  He liked Wright's church not because of any ties to Christianity, but because of the rabid America-hating that went on.

3) He's a Marxist-Communist (redundant, because they are the same thing) who is a tool for the Wall Street bankers who are also government power brokers.  Consolidating wealth and power in Wall Street and in Washington are the same thing so the government has control of all our wealth and is keeping people poor, except that it's also the poor peoples fault for being poor and lazy.

Hope that helps.

You're oversimplifying.  Generalizing is ALWAYS bad.

This guy isn't "Your average Republican CEO Douchebag", if there even is such a thing, and he's chaired a bunch of charities that actually help people (I know, I know... sounds like "I've got black friends", but it's just a short way of saying he's got a social conscience).

Feudalism... again, generalizing.  This guy never struck me as the "all-supreme despot" type.  He was actually widely supported by the people that worked for him... even the union folks, and was good about giving people a fair wage for a day's work.  Of course, he was a CEO only until about 10 years ago... different age, different environment.

Gov't programs that provide "assistance" aren't a bad idea, just nearly always poorly executed and nearly always put in place with a huge lack of the resources required to make them work right, and almost always neglected after they are put in place, until and unless there's some political advantage to making it work right.  Not sure how you can fix that, given the seemingly inherent nature of people to take advantage of any situation.  If I could figure that out, I'd run for office and be widely shunned by the GOP.

There are a lot of "shades of grey", despite how you neatly it would fall in place if everything were simply black or white.

/and no, not 50 Shades of Grey grey
//if you think one party fits the bill in every situation, you're no better... you just have a different agenda

That might be the reason. The Right's strength is selling a Marlboro Man fantasy to its supporters; rugged, self-made, strong individualists independent of those around them. The notion that the environment and society around them is a critical component of their success is mortally offensive, degrading to THEIR accomplishments. .
