I'm probably only going to be half watching the first and second matches, and definitely missing the third. Busy day today, unfortunately.

I would love to see a Costa Rica upset, but I don't think it'll happen, and I think the French will easily win, I really haven't a clue for the last one.

If Costa Rica can pull off another shocking win, over even a draw, then England are done. A draw would be the Ticos nearly through to the knockouts, while a win would guarantee them the spot.

Lost Thought 00: Italy wins, but only by 1.

England ultimately goes home on tie breakers

The only way tiebreakers would be decisive for England is if the group goes 9-3-3-3. If Italy wins today (by one goal) and again on Tuesday, England would qualify with a 2-goal win over Costa Rica.

Interesting that the Italians are using a 4-5-1 formation (as has been pretty standard) while the Costa Ricans are using a 5-2-3 formation.  As for the late game, I'm still going to watch just to see if the Hondurans can wake up and do CONCACAF proud.

When the Italians don't have the ball its a 5-4-1 not a 4-5-1.

But yes this Italian side will do what Italy has always done. Defend in depth and then never give it back and hope Balotelli can score a goal

Against 5 in the back line, that will take some fine midfield work to get him open.  I don't see it happening and am tempted to say this match will result in a tie.
