OH MY GOD THIS IS ONE OF THE WORST MASS-SHOOTINGS IN HIST--oh, shot a 78. Well, that's nice for her, then.

So she's supposed to be some kind of phenomenal athlete? Put me and her in an octagon and I'd make her tap out in less than one minute.

/Does she even lift?

Start the countdown. Only 7 more years before she's legal, boys.

Not sure the article's mention of several men not breaking 78 on the men's tour is relevant.

Ladies tees and whatnot.

Somewhat relevant anecdote, just spoke with my girlfriend's 91 year old grandfather the other day about the ass holes at his country club that hit from the ladies tees even though they're not ladies.  The nerve

I would be lucky to finish +8 on any course, and I'm 35. She is 11.

Yes, it is very impressive. She's only going to get better.

Right now, if she shoots 3 under today, she'll make the cut. Is it likely? No, but it is doable (as in 1 person did it). But she's not in last so far and she's playing respectable at the US Open.

Remember when Michelle Wie turned professional at 15? Remember how she was a phenom? See how she hasn't really done jack since?

An 11 year old who plays golf well is a sideshow, male or female. I just hope she doesn't end up like Capriati.

Well she certainly hasn't lived up to the hype, but she has won 3 events, and has a bunch of top-10s in the majors.  Currently 2nd in this event after one round.

Completely true. "Hasn't done jack" is a bit harsh. But that's 3 wins in 9 years, none of them before she turned 20. My point isn't that she's not good. It's that kids don't need to turn pro at 15.

Agreed, especially the way she did with all the men's event circuses.  Though given the circumstances of her being thrust into the spotlight by her father, I'd say she's handled it rather well.

There are over 500 LPGA members, ~30 events per year.  She is currently 2nd on the 2014 money list.  You are completely wrong.

While not legal, you could apply chapstick or Vasoline to your driver face and eliminate that slice pronto. The grooves on the driver face catch the dimples of the ball and slice it. Eliminate the grooves and lookie there right in the fairway.

Or you could pay for expensive lessons like I am and still have a damn slice!

It's not about the course, it's about the quality of competition she was facing, or rather the lack of quality competition.

If an 11 year old is one of the 4 or 5 best players in a field that includes professional, you may have a problem.

One of us has never played a tournament, and one of us has. And I've had my ass handed to me by octogenarians and high school players in the last two years.

The quality of the field is absolutely a factor in who wins and who loses. That shouldn't really be a difficult concept.

Yeah, but didn't I already address that? I backed off the "hasn't really done jack" portion, and said my main point was that going pro at a young age, just because you have ability, isn't necessarily productive or a good thing.  How am I wrong about that? If you disagree with that point we can discuss it further.

As for quoting my profile, I'm pretty sure I wasn't an asshole in the least about anything. My opinion isn't "uncalled for" just because you disagree with it, right?
