Good Meownimg! I slept well until my hubby and son came upstairs to bed. Hint..Hearing you swear about a door closing sharply is just as disturbing as the door! And of course my kid is still coughing! Dry cough that goes on and on. Poor kid.

Then at 5:00 a.m. Eli wanted in. *sigh* I might neep a nap later today..

Real Women Drink Akvavit: Mudd's woman: oops wrong thread. WAAAAYY wrong thread.
No kittehs in prison, from what i'm told.

Thankfully, you have been misinformed.

Animals and humans share a special bond - we're good for each other (as long as we're not trying to eat each other, of course). The benefits of caring for animals or even just having one around is well established.

Not at first. She thought I was getting up, then got confused! Started to lick my hand.....until I made her lay down, and then she went back to sleep too. :D

laulaja, that is no random black guy - that is Shaq! Shaquille O'Neal is about 7 feet and over 300 pounds of "get dafuq outta my way" on the basketball court (now retired from play, but talks at ya on the TeeVee about it). He played for the Los Angeles Lakers for a few years and that was the only time I actually went to a game even though I had moved up to SacTown by then. It just cracked me up to see him lumbering up the court paying no mind to the "little" guys between him and the hoop. *thud* *thud* *thud* *reaches up, puts ball through hoop* *thud* *thud* *thud* in the other direction. It was just too funny to me. It also got me thrown into a swimming pool by some acquaintances for cheering for the Lakers (but mostly just Shaq) at Arco Arena - which at the time was the Sacramento Kings' home court. Such a traitor - and to my own adopted home town even! :-D

Looking for advice, fellow Caturdayers!

We'll be moving from an apartment to a house here in the next month, but there isn't an easy place to put the litter box. I've been looking at hiding the box solutions, such as repurposing a cabinet or trunk to hide it in (have to find one first). Or we might be able to repurpose one of the cabinets in the second bathroom. Does anyone have any experience doing this? My biggest concern is that we use wheat litter and they somehow track it EVERYWHERE despite having an extra long nappy mat to try to grab it from their paws.

Also the smell... My little girl manages to make the most horrendous smell and never cover it up, so I'm wary about repurposing a bench or cabinet that would go near a main room/juncture and just have it smell all the time. There's also a faux planter on Amazon that the box hides in, but again, mess and smell. Just curious if anyone else has done something similar and their results!

Are you giving her dairy products?  If so, try eliminating it from the diet, it can cause GI upset and "smell" issues.  Alternately, baking soda boxes can help when sprinkled on or under the litter.

Never tried hiding litter boxes.

Do you have an attached garage?  We built a "litter box containment area" out of 2x4s and wire mesh.  Put a door on the front with a hinge for access to cleaning and a cat door in the wall for the kitties to have access.  Keeps the mess and smell in the garage but the kitties can't get in to the rest of the garage and risk going outside.  Works well for us.  Post here if you want photos, happy to help.

I just saw a kid having a total meltdown at WalMart. Brought back a memory or two from when my kid was about that age (3 year old kids - such fun!). I felt bad for the mom because she was trying to handle it well, but then I felt bad for the kid because she finally lost it herself, just grabbed his little arm and *yanked* him down the aisle. That made him shriek louder, so I'm pretty sure it was a bad move. Yeah, I never did that kind of thing - though I did school both my kid and an adult (with the kid's help, oddly enough) at the Pavilions once. Never expected to get a twofer there, that's for sure.

Anyway, I picked up bacon and apple juice and cabbage and a couple onions. I have some chicken breasts that I am going to make pretend it is autumn when I cook them, because I can. I just have to make up my mind *how* to do this before dinner time. I suspect mustard will be involved. Also, some thyme. *ponder*

Here, has a cat

Does anyone know of an alternate way to donate to our Alien (that can be posted on FARK)?  Some of the folks trying to help her out are having problems with gofundme.

My hubby built a huge litterbox under a counter in our laundry room & used a computer fan to draw the air to outside through a corner of the garage. No smell!
