Must have been a slow day at the lab. You know how it is, you're bored and the live anthrax is just sitting there and hey, screw those guys in accounting!

They double dipped at the office party.

It's amazing to think the tip top of the CDC did this. Don't these people have reactivated black plague strains and Spanish influenza strains?

That ought to teach them not to use petri dishes for jello shots.

I'd be willing to bet that they have genetically modified and enhanced strains of both. You know, just in case.

The potential exposure occurred after researchers working in a high-level biosecurity laboratory at the agency's Atlanta campus failed to follow proper procedures to inactivate the bacteria. They then transferred the samples, which may have contained live bacteria, to lower-security CDC labs not equipped to handle live anthrax.

Looks like someone was... almost honest.

I wonder why scientists and other employees working with or near the stuff weren't vaccinated?  I don't work around the stuff but due to my employment I'm vaccinated against it.

They say that now, in Paris France. Even as we speak, Louis Pasteur has devised a vaccine that will obliterate anthrax, once and for all.

When I was drafted into the Army, back in 1970, I was vaccinated for all kinds of stuff, because of 'Nam.  I wonder if any of the immunity is still in effect.  I asked one of the medics what the hell was all this stuff and he rattled off some of them, including the plague.  "The plague?", I said, in shock.  He said, "Oh yeah, they still have plague over there."  I don't know whether he was BS'ing me. When you're a recruit, getting BS'ed was a morning, noon and night event.
