The little bastard tried to run away from his rescuer, the jerk.  Dogs are jerks.

Came for Slinky Dog's impending doom.  Smiled at the other pics.  Good job everyone.

It's just like a story I know called "The Puppy Who Lost His Way." The world was changing, and the puppy was getting... bigger.

That's not surprising.  After that puppy was consumed by flames, there were bound to be a good about of ash and cinders.

You love it???? What the hell is the matter with you? I have 3 kids so I have watched that scene (and every TS movie) 10,000 times - it is absolutely soul destroying.

To the article itself - I am glad they saved the dog so now he can go to a shelter and sit until no one adopts him and he is humanely euthanized.

/no, I'm not serious

With all the publicity about this story, there will be hundreds of people seeking to adopt Smokey, but the other pit bull and shepherd mix adult dogs at shelter remain at risk of being put down. So if you can't adopt Smokey, hope people would consider another shelter dog who badly needs a home.

I adopted my 8 year old golden retriever Charlie who had been turned into NYC shelter 3 months ago. Needed some work but he's such a sweet dog and he's doing great now.

I could never bring an animal to a shelter - an animal which is as intelligent as a human 2-3 year old - that I had raised for 8 farking years without playing the gun in mouth blues later that same evening. I know it happens all the time, but I just don't get how someone could do that. I know there's plenty of people with some tragic Rube Goldberg-esque situations which require it, but that can't be all of them, and even so I still simply couldn't ever. No way.

ltnor: Having just said good-bye to my old dog, I won't be reading this tonight.

So sorry Itnor for your loss.  I went through that last June. Had to say good bye to my 16 year old Golden Retriever, Buttercup.  So sad.  It took me many months before I was ready to consider adopting another friend.  I adopted 8 year old golden retriever Charlie the beginning of March from Long Island Golden Retriever Rescue (LIGRR) where I adopted Buttercup at age 3..  Charlie had been turned into the NYC Shelter by his owner and after a week at the NYC shelter, he was fortunate to be rescued by LIGRR.  He stayed at a Veterinarian for about 3 weeks to recuperate from pneumonia and to get neutered when I adopted him.

Just allow yourself to grieve however you need to.  Our thoughts are with you Itnor.
