As much as I like Zep, I'm not sure I'd agree.

2014-06-19 03:37:57 PM
Modern pop rock is a bunch of ripped-off 80s beats. Occasionally Muse gets in there and makes a Radiohead cover.

Just give it a decade and we'll be swallowing the dogsh*t remake of Nickelback songs.

2014-06-19 04:05:12 PM
In the sense that they stole much of their music from other musicians, I guess that's true.

2014-06-19 04:05:32 PM
I'm sure that article has nothing to do with the fact that new deluxe remastered editions of the first 3 Zep records were released, recently.

I didn't really like them after Beggar's Banquet.

THE FUTURE IS HERE!

However it's not a dogshiat cover....

Modern
rock?

Hi, author of shiatty article. I don't think we've met.

2014-06-19 04:39:51 PM
The Kinks and The Who both have something to say about the author's premise. And that something is "bullshiat."

I came here to point that out. How much credit can you give them when they 'borrowed' most of their best material?

2014-06-19 04:50:57 PM
Heeeere we go again, folks!

The answer is Zepp AND the Stones, warts and theft and all.

Btw 80s music was based on earlier music and so on and so on.

Maybe it was a bunch of different people sampling and adapting different genres, influencing each other to all develop a new genre over time.

Nah, that's stupid.

Hendrix is for trippers.

All music is based on earlier music. All artists steal. Zep's sin is they didn't credit, which is pretty weak.

Read a bit. They did give credit pretty quick. They were called out on it quick. And this has happened so many times to so many people, especially the old and gone now blues guys.

There is no such thing as modern "rock" therefore your argument is invalid.

At one time everybody wanted to be zep.
And mick ronson was a helluva guitarest.

They all wanna be big, big stars, but they got different reasons for that

What is and what should never be said about Zep is how they trampled underfoot all those bluesmen that were singing about their lemons being squeezed. Those guys asked no quarter. In the light of things, how many more times do you people have to ride this gallows pole? It's been ten years gone since we've heard from the boys, and I just want to say thank you to them. In my time of dying, I can ramble on about this or that, but the song remains the same. They are my friends. Hot dog

I just found out about that band a few months ago. I listen to a lot of power pop, and many bands list them as an influence. Pretty good stuff! No idea how I could have missed them until recently.

The only thing I know about that, is the their first album is in my top five albums of all time.
