It's not a skill game, for example.

I was on it...but didn't get called up.

It's not random...the producers interview the audience as it goes in...they pick who goes up.

However, the guy next to me got called up.
Ended up winning every prize you can think of...
Boat, TWO cars, furniture, trip to Europe, cash, etc...and the final too.

Friggin' wife right next to me, was whining, "How are we going to get all that home to Wisconsin??"
Sell a damn car.
(you're going to need it for the taxes anyway...that's right, if you can't pay the taxes...you don't get it.)

I did for years and years. Up until a year ago, or so. Once they started adding dudes as models, I went entirely to older episodes. The older episode are great. It's good fun guessing what an overpriced fridge cost in the late 70's.

Is there an endless gif of the Yoddeleeyoddeleeyodelleeyodellee Alpine climber game?

Because that one was awesome.  Something about that whole concept was very lemming like and surreal.  Thousands of Rickola yodeling Alpine guys just climbing to their doom is something I've thought about waaaay too much.

If you win the showcase showdown and are a dude...you also get to bang one of the models.

if you win the showcase showdown and are a chick.. Bob (back then) and now Drew.. get to bang you.

If you were forced to do Bob.. ( and to some extent Drew) you'd start batting for the other team too.

Always choose the cash value instead of the actual prizes. That way you can save back 40% and still fun with the rest.

Do they give you a cash option on TPIR for that?   Depending on how much cash he'd won, the cash might have covered the taxes on the prizes.   As far as his wife's thing on "how are we going to get that home".... do they actually give you the "prizes" right there in L.A., especially for physical items, or is it essentially a "voucher" to get it at the local whatever nearest to you (ie, some TV that is sold nationally at Target, auto dealer showroom, etc).

Senior Week back in '96. The Price is Right was the Alive Check/Head Count for everyone in the house. No matter what misadventure we'd gotten into the night before, everyone was back at the house to watch the Price is Right.

/Caught an episode here or there since, mostly on sick days
//Also watched the entire Avalanche/Panthers Stanley Cup final

I was always surprised to find out how popular "the price is right" was in the predominantly black projects in the south. No matter what projects you were in when that show came on you could hear it through the windows if the weather wasn't too cold. A lot of little old ladies down there would schedule their day around it. If you started up a conversation up about the show with almost anyone from the projects, a lot of them would enthusiastically start hollering "come on downnnnnnnn".

.
I always thought it strange that at the end of every show the guy would get up there and basically say "and remember to go cut the balls off of your dog".

When I worked at a call center for a Temporary Service, every temp not working who called in between 11 and 12 had the Price is Right blaring in the background.

There's something weird about the way it's weighted.  Even large, strong men have trouble getting it to do more than one revolution.

Is it really "rigged", subby? They hooked it up for a commercial and forgot to revert back once, if I RTFA correctly. It's not the same as implying that it was rigged from the beginning, as the headline implies.
