Let's turn this into a troll thread by pointing out that the NIH has identified that ebola rates face likely increases with heat driven climate changes:

And of course the citation within the citation for the actual mechanisms involved

Agreed,
Why aren't governments in the area just dropping thermobaric bombs on places where they have ebola deaths reported?  Seems that would be preferable to having it spread to other more densely populated areas or even worse to a country where white people live.

I said bombs plural.  Unless you're afraid the west african governments can't afford that kind of firepower,  in which case I'm sure you'll find no shortage of governments who want to test out their arsenals.

A client of mine performs surgery in Sierra Leon for a three week stint three of four times a year. His last visit he returned quite sick. Prolly Ebola. Probably would have died if he had not returned to the States when he did.

Nasty, Nasty, shiat.

Screw the climate change threadjack, let's make this a gun thread.

Why use bombs? If everyone was armed, they could save themselves. Sort of a reverse zombie apocalypse - just an apocalypse. With reverse zombies. Second Amendment for the win!

Or even better.

Death Panels.

I have one of those on my futon! The Hot Zone was the book that got me into science as a kid, so I've always had a soft spot for ebola. Vicious little virus, isn't it?

2014-06-19 04:02:26 PM
Well good.  This planet is way too populous anyway.  We need a good virus to take out 5 or 6 billion people and if it starts in Africa even better.  We will likely figure it out before it gets too many White people.

I think the premise of that scene in the film "Outbreak" was to not only destroy the village, but to keep the problem secret.  Not usually possible these days with so many NGOs on the ground.  Also, yeah, barrel bombs may be cheap but fuel air bombs are pretty specialized gear and probably not cheap at all.

Lets just hope it doesn't spark up in Monrovia and those 7 dead were isolated because if it does, it will spread far and wide. While I inherently agree with the too many people theme, I'd prefer not having to live (or die) in a plague.

There is a reason pre meds work up to 120 hrs per week to get thru school & internship.
Its part of the training...
At some levels,
it is known that will be the standard work week for medical workers in the not too distant future.

If only the rest of the population knew what "they" know...
Who the hell is "they"

Who?
WHo?
WHO?
