(Billboard)   Thanks to Frozen, more and more parents are naming their children Elsa and Logan. In another year, experts believe those parents will just let it go and pick other non-Disney names   (billboard.com) divider line 69

At least those are real names.  I pity the teachers who will get an influx of Catniss' and Peeta's in the next couple of years.

Elementary teachers in Boston are going to have a hell of a time telling Peters from Peetas.

There's no such thing as a "fake" name. No name is any more real than any others. Why is Elsa, which is just a bastardized version of Elizabeth, more "real" than Peeta, a bastardized version of Peter? Or Jessica, a name Shakespeare just made up out of thin air?

softshoes A shout out to all the Simba's, how many of you are there?

Subby may be surprised, but teachers aren't-the phenom seems to have started with the Modern Classic Disney in the 80's, or @ least when the heroines were given fairly weird names.  My bro could identify the year any girl student was born(almost always girls) based on whatever the big Disney cartoon was that year...)

Ohh do tell.  I was wondering what the latest douchetastic set of names would be after Kayden Brayden Jaden Fayden Zayden and Rayden.   Helps to be able to spot the trendy parents.

I honestly tried to watch it, given that so many of my FB friends were raving about it.....

I didn't make it past 20 minutes. Flipped back to the LEGO Movie.

It's fine. I wouldn't make a point of seeing it unless you have a female grade-school aged kidnap victim that you'd like to reward for being quiet when the police came by.

Yeah, I thought "Logan" was a cool name after reading and watching "Logan's Run" in 1976. Still do.

That's why I'm so glad the Abrams set fire to the Star Wars Expanded Universe. I don't know if I could stand a set of Star Wars movies that focus on the adventures of Jacen and Jania Solo. Those names are just so incredibly 90s.

I think they call it Dreamworks Face. Almost ever Dreamworks cast image for a movie has a lead character sporting that look.

Yeah, but the Elsa on the poster is after she decided to let her freak flag fly post "Let It Go", presumably at the end of the movie after she has grown comfortable with her powers and finally feels good in her own skin.

When my daughter was born five years ago the nurse remarked that it was nice to see a girl being named something other than "Bella" or "Isabella."

I didn't know what to make of that until they explained it was from "Twilight."  Then I was sad for them.

I've never had a Braden or a Jaden who wasn't a monumental pain in the ass.

I have a friend who was named by his older sister. She liked a boy in her kindergarden class and wanted to name her brother after him. His parents liked the name and went with it. About a month later his sister decieded she didn't like said boy any more and started calling mky friend by his middle name. That trend stuck too.....

My wife is still peeved that Twilight popularized Isabela. It was on her baby name list forever. Fortunately, we haven't had to face that issue since we've had nothing but boys and the names we favored for boys haven't been given to popular fictional characters so far.

3-D with a little reefer might make it okay. The visuals are cool and it is loosely based on a lesser known fairy tale - The Ice Princess, which was cool. My boy, 5, gave it a thumbs down.

Yeah, that's what I'm named after. Wasn't until about 15 years ago I started seeing little kids with the same name. Now I hate it when I'm at the store and some lady is yelling at her kids and I think they're saying something to me. It used to be uncommon.
