How is Trump not aware of just how big of a jackass people think he is?
Does he seriously believe he is respected by anyone?

It is not even that I disagree so much as cannot stand his fake laughter, oh and the fact that he hides behind being a comedian when he clearly wants to direct political discourse.

Al Franken has now said he's above reproach..lol

Oh here let me spend years telling you about how evil Bill O'Reilly is, but we can get along lol see we have a good time.

The Daily Show is a satire of news mediatainment. If "news media" weren't nakedly trying to direct the political discourse, he'd have nothing to push back against.

I still don't think anything tops Seth Meyers saying, "Donald Trump has said he's running for president as a Republican, which is surprising because I thought he was running as a joke."

You think The Donald does not care what others think of him. You believe Mr. Trump is unconcerned with publicity and reputation. You have four legs and drink aggressively from a full pressure hose. Your paste-eating skills are unmatched.

Do you think he's not aware of how he's seen?  By being an insufferable blow-hard, he gets mentioned all the time in the media.  I'm sure if you checked major news stories about wealthy Americans done in the last 12 months, he'd come up near the top of the list for media mentions.

I'm sure Steven Jobs knew that he came across as a complete jack-ass, that didn't quiet down his behavior, either.

I know what it is, but it transcended that 5 years ago and has become the starting point for many people's news. I know this because it's obvious. The Daily Show is part of politics now.

It's propaganda disguised as comedy. And no, I don't care how that sounds since I am correct.

I want my comedy divorced from politics, I mean, they at least can't share the same beach house, except on holidays.

It's cathartic.  Not much different from what hard right conservatives get out of Rush Limbaugh when they're sick to death of hard left liberalism.  That said, if I need political catharsis I'd much rather laugh with Jon Stewart than bust a rage vein with Limbaugh.

It's not so much that I'm surprise that people give a crap what Donald Trump is up to, it's that I can't believe people still give a crap about Jon Stewart.  He became a cliche parody of himself within the first couple of seasons.

For some reason there's this group of people who are all about Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert, The Simpsons, Family Guy, and Seth Rogan.  They get all of their news and worldviews through those lenses.  And at the same time, they're also the loudest bunch of farkers on the internet and know nothing about the things they shout about.

If you still find the Daily Show interesting, it's probably time to get out of your mom's basement and get a job.

I LOLed.

Aristophanes in "Clouds" also had an ax to grind with the targets of his satire.  That doesn't make it anything other than the 2427 year-old farking poster-child for what farking political satire is.

Just because you don't understand what political satire is, or that its level of influence is irrelevant to its status as satire, doesn't make it less so.

I can't recall where I read it, but someone described as "Clown nose off, clown nose on."  He'll discuss serious issues and clearly wants to be an opinion maker, but If he starts to get serious pushback on a issue, he puts on the clown nose and scoffs, "I'm just a comedian, can't you take a joke?"

It's been a while since I've been to Chicago but last time I was there I seem to remember there was a huge Boeing logo on one of the buildings downtown. The Trump sign doesn't look like it is more of a visual clutter than Boeing but can't tell for sure without them side by side. Trump is one of the largest douches on the planet and probably is loving the controversy since it gets him in the limelight again but that's not reason enough to apply different rules to his building than the rest.

Donald Trump always makes me miss Spy magazine.

Thick-fingered vulgarian was biting without being so lowbrow that it stooped to the gaudy level of its target.
F*ckface Von Clownstick sounds like it was written by an intern raised on the same sort of lowest common denominator grotesqueries that made Trump a household name in the first place.  It's tacky in and of itself. America's humorists need to rediscover the art of the tastefully biting nickname.

Yes! That is exactly what he does. It's nearly in the same vein as making a clearly offensive joke around people and then going "WHAT??!" when they get mad.  "What?? It's a joke! Ha ha my post-modern humor isn't racist because...ummmmmmmm wacky sounds!!!!11 HONK HONK!!"

It works particularly well against 0'Reilly who can't seem to come out of character, drop his schtick and be real.  In my world, I like to think that most of the bloviators on TV only believe half of the things they spew.  Stewart at least points out the hypocrisy and cartoonish nature of politics and does it with humor.

Thanks for your permission, it does make a difference.

And young man, I know what satire is, and I also know when it's thinly-disguised satire that ALWAYS paints the democrats in a slightly, if not dramatic, better light.  The Daily Show may as well be run by the democratic party.

(not that I give a damn when they rightfully ream the GOP, but go on believing I'm playing teams like you)

And you're right..I will never be as smart as you, thank goodness. Think on that one.

When there has been pushback on the Daily Show, it's usually for things that are, in fact, bits. On the rare occasion it's not, they've been actually pretty good about admitting fault (It's really not a rare thing for Stewart to say "I was wrong") or addressing the criticism in a serious tone. I don't think I've ever seen an instance where The Daily Show has specifically used the "we're a comedy show" response when they were clearly doing some serious editorializing. If you've got a specific example of that, feel free to provide.

Usually, that response is reserved when they're doing things that are, specifically, jokes.
