Where the hell did this "survived the Ottomans' attack and eventually went to live with his daughter in Naples" story come from? I hadn't heard that one.

Yes, but for a porn couple, I think "brown eye and scotchcrotch" wins the contest.

Why do archeologists have to go around digging everything up. Have they no respect for the dead?

But, I was told he was buried in Kitzingen, Germany!

/one of the other legends not listed on the wikipedia page was that when the tower finally does fall it will land on Drac's tomb unleashing him or killing him depending on which variation you hear.
//was stationed there for 5 years, nice little town.

An interesting piece of fiction written about the historical Vlad is C. C. Humphrey's "Vlad: The Final Confession", which I give five stars.

http://www.amazon.com/Vlad-Last-Confession-C-C-Humphreys/dp/B005OHV1 7U /ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1403110075&sr=8-2&keywords=c.+c.+humphreys

The whole blood-sucking thing came about much later.

Except that once the hysteria and hyperbole died down and real scientists weighed in, it seems that there's no real reason to suppose that this is his tomb.

They are actually 100% safe.
According to typical vampire lore, a Vampire must rest in the soil from his/her homeland.  Otherwise, they die (for real, like).  This is why when he traveled to England, he spent the journey in a box full of Romanian soil.
So, if he is buried in Italy, he is definitely a danger to no one.

netweavr: Why do archeologists have to go around digging everything up. Have they no respect for the dead?

No, we don't!!! I've dug up two cemeteries (including one in Italy), looking to do more.

Btw, this has already been debunked. Those "archaeologists" aren't too reputable.

I hope they don't get permission to dig up the grave. It serves no purpose what so ever. We only need so much historical facts trivia. Dead people are gone, but that doesn't mean we get to do whatever with the remains.

Everyone knows he's currently living (well, dead) in England under an (poorly) assumed name.

/Releasing control art restriction to level 3...level 2....level 1. Approval of situation A recognized. The Cromwell approval is now in effect. Ability restrictions lifted for limited use until the enemy has been rendered silent.

Vlad the Impaler is buried in three parts in three different churches in Romania, they even have shrines to him there. He is regarded as a great leader in Romania. This is some amateur "historian" who saw an engraving and made up a whole story for attention around it. It has been long confirmed where Vlad is buried, it was confirmed during his lifetime and is well documented
