Goths today...

Why, back in my day a proper goth wouldn't be caught outside in the sun without a black parasol, let alone in a public park...

Don't know what this world is coming to...

I am all about whatever floats your boat, but cellar-dwellers having a field day just seems weird.  Are they just trying to freak out the "sheeple?"

One of my simple goals in life is to treat anyone with an AW appearance exactly like I treat everyone else, even if something about their appearance is minimally shocking to me.

Huge gauges, face tattoos, and brightly colored hair? "You're probably just a regular person and are perhaps less-interesting than average, because you depend on your appearance to tell the story your personality can't."

Thousands flocked to Fort Williams Park on a recent Saturday afternoon to lounge in the grass, barbecue and soak up some rays on a blue-skied, 80-degree day. ...

Oh master of the goth... tell me what it was like back in *your* days in the scene?

Actually... You're 100% right on that one. Although a white parasol is also perfectly acceptable for proper accenting of the skin tone... the amalgamation of the "scene" groups has really pushed neo classical victorian goth even further into a niche group. At least we still have gothic lolitas pushing the fashion side. I blame the perkygoths and candyravers.

///As my VtM t-shirt is black... but not as black as it once was, because I had to wash it.

Depends...

Goth BBQ would be where everything made with red wine and absinthe

while Emo BBQ would be things that are easily cut

Latex, eyeliner, combat boots & canes... all dancing to highly distorted Sisters of Mercy and too many cloves.

Man. I miss it.

CSB
In high school I was Joe Slightly Above Average. Good grades, played 3 sports, student council and stuff like that. But I was taught well by my parents and didn't judge anyone; so like Ferris Bueller I was friends with jocks, soc, burnouts, deseg student: whatever. I didn't hang with one clique.

Senior year AP chemistry our lab partners were random selections drawn from a hat and I was paired with Nancy H: Queen of the Goths. For a good month she despised me and we barely talked even though I tried to find a common ground.

Our grades suffered and at midterm we were barely passing so agreed to a truce and started studying together. Come to find out her parents were divorced and dad traveled a lot so we started going over to her house. We became good friends and quickly started farking each other's brains out inbetween study sessions. I found out that under the goth uniform of baggy parachute pants and hooded sweatshirt was a banging body.

Flash forward 11 years later to our class reunion. She's there with her natural hair color, regular makeup and a very good dress showing off the goods. I go over and talk to her. Come to find out she's a veterinarian and married. Not surprisingly none of her other goth friends showed up so the three of us started talking at the bar and she comes out to her husband (who a good guy) that we had a thing for a while in high school. He automatically assumes I'm a reformed goth but we explain how things went down and have a good laugh.

At dinner they join my group of track/cross country friends. As we're going around the table and telling stories most everyone remembers that we were Chem lab partners but little else about her. Then she blurts out and tells everyone we were secret farkbuddies for a couple of months. Needless to say some spit-takes ensue along with laughter.

I guess the word gets through the reunion party and later a couple of the drunk jocks corner me wanting to get details or offer some sort of congratulations.

/Yes, I know it's very "The Breakfast Club"ish
//She still looked great at the 20th reunion

///Don't judge people too harshly

Used to be fairly conformist in the late 70s- early 80s in Austin. then got hold of the New wave, and tit was nice. I remember going back to HS reunions, seeing classmates that dropped out of college, got married, kinda like their lives just stopped. I was 30, still single, had  a gorgeous girlfriend, from a really well to do family with triple  d funbags. Later, my GF moved to Seattle to be near her parents, got a boob reduction to Cs, and later turned dykey. Heh, had my fun all over those.
Turns out a few years later, met and married another gal with triple D funbags. A lot of my friends say  I won't go out with a gal unless she's got them. well, married her, there you go.
Haven't seen notice lately of a HS reunion at my HS, just as well, many of the people you want to see are dead. Is that too goth?
