(Utah Daily Herald Extra)   If you thought that taking an alcohol induced nap at the drive-thru only happens at McDonald's, well apparently DUI doesn't discriminate when it comes to fast food   (heraldextra.com) divider line 17

The officer asked Barney if he had been drinking, to which Barney allegedly stated, "yes, a little." Barney was asked to perform field sobriety tests. The officer reported Barney stumbled out of the vehicle, had slurred speech, droopy and bloodshot eyes and the odor of alcohol on his breath.

The officer reported that Barney couldn't get through any of the tests or even through the instruction phase, where the officer demonstrated the field sobriety tests.

I knew. I hope they put the bastard away for a long time.

I always thought it was more of a Taco Bell 4th meal kind of thing, but Wendy's doesn't surprise me either.

At first I was laughing a little at the guy. Until I read this. . .

Barney was arrested and booked into the Utah County Jail on suspicion of DUI, an ignition interlock violation, driving on a revoked license, being an alcohol restricted driver and having an open container in a vehicle.

Now I feel kind of bad. That dude has a problem. He is a danger to the public at this point. I hope he decides to battle it before someone suffers.

Yeah, I understand alcoholism.  And I drink my fair share... but I've just never understood driving drunk.  Especially something needless like getting a burger.  I guess its just hard wired into me (and not from any experience)... once I pour my first vodka, I just know driving is out of the question for the night.

Maybe its because I live in a city and can walk to stores, bars, what have you.  But I did live in the suburbs long ago, and still had the same mentality.

And trust me, I've drank enough to make stupid decisions before.  Just never thought to get in a car and drive somewhere.

During my heaviest drinking days in my 20s, I got pretty lucky. My sister's roommate who didn't drink at all had a thing for me. She would drop me off and pick me up from the bars no questions asked. When my girlfriend wasn't around sometimes she would come in and quietly drink diet coke while I carried on and flirted about. This may sound kind of jerky, but she knew the drunker I got the higher the probability that I would cheat on my girlfriend. A free ride deserves a free ride I say. She's married and chunky now and that girlfriend is long gone, but I see her at family events where my family and friends like to  through out not so subtle innuendo about the nature of our relationship in our younger days. Anyhow, the point is if you can't find a 22 year old curly headed, big-boobed brunette who doesn't drink, but does have a crush on you to drive you around, take a cab or drink at home.
