Why? Did they have a talk about their flair?

2014-06-18 11:20:57 AM
Indeed, now a chastened, more mature T.G.I Fridays no longer forces its waiters to talk about their flair, instead allowing them-and their grateful patrons-a side order of dignity* to go with their bacon mac 'n' cheese bites.

*T.G.I. Fridays' Dignity Stackers come basted in our signature, hickory-smoked Jack Daniels sauce.

my answer to mandatory "flair" when I worked at Bennigans was to add lots of buttons with small print with subversive or otherwise offensive slogans.
The easiest to read  was " I need more money, more power, and less shiat from you people".  I was called on it exactly once by a customer...who left me a rather large tip afterwards.

I haven't watched Office Space in probably a decade.  a perfect movie.  I should dust it off.

i never watched "Friends", I don't think i've seen any Jennifer Aniston movie, so, one thing that bugs me about this movie is she talks like she has rocks in her mouth.  Does she always talk like that, or was that a thing in the movie?

Can we blame him for the change in TGI Fridays decor too?

At least when it looked like a 40's-50's garage sale, the ceiling/wall junk was interesting and durable.

The 60's crap they have up now just doesn't stand up to people wanting to touch it.

Something to make a uniform look less conformist.     In the movie, basically witty slogan pins.

/That was the irony in the movie.  The server did not add enough non-conformity to conform with requirements

You can also thank George Carlin for the list of words you can't say on television or radio.

Yes, there were standards for public broadcasting, but there was no actual list of "dirty words" until his 7 dirty words routine.  And of course it was a broadcast of that routine that was the test case of his list as the government standard.

As for flair, as long as the servers keep their fingers and hair out of the food, who gives a fark what they're wearing?  Wonder about their flair?  If I had a brain cell noticing whether or not the servers had any "flair" I would drink until that brain cell was dead.

While I liked the comedy of the word play (George was famous for that), I disagreed with the "near-miss" argument.  "Near-miss" does not mean "nearly a miss", therefore a "hit".  It means that the miss happened when the two things that missed each other were very near each other  "Near" here means "close by", not "almost".

Yeah, if it wasn't for that routine, I'll bet the list would be down to "shiat" and "fark" (and variants) by now, maybe not even those.  I mean, "tits" is on the list.  Really?

Carlin ripped into TGIF as a business directly, as well.  I think it went something like this:

"Thank God It's Friday! *crosseyed retarded laugh*.  Ugh.  That was funny when somebody first said it on the radio, twenty years ago...for about an hour.  If I was going to open a restaurant, know what I'd call it?  HSIOW.  Holy shiat, It's Only Wednesday!  I think people would drink a lot more liquor if they thought it was Wednesday all the time."

His acting there, for a comedy was perfect, and he was definitely singled out for that because he's aware of the jealousy regarding him.  Inside joke it was, young Farker.

Where you live. Where I live, they will and they do. Like Fark, it doesn't take much for someone to get nasty, all you have to be is different.  It's OK to be different, but not the wrong different.

And yes, any complaining will get your food dropped, or possibly spit in.

Not to mention the fact that I have seen cooks cauterize bloody wounds on the grills. Mmmmmmm bon appetit!

Seriously, Fark restaurants. No one wants to work in them, and I certainly don't want to overhear how tired you are of the bullshiat shift and life and garbage when I'm trying to impress someone or just enjoy the view while eating a steak-that was brought late because the "edgy" waitress had to fark with her stupid contact lenses.

Did I mention fark restaurants?  Unless I'm getting laid at the end of the night, no thanks.

You're the one missing the point. If your complaint is that there are too many stupid people breeding and you fancy yourself to be smart, then you should be breeding so that there are more smart people. What's not to understand?
