This About That: Here's the thing about Big Oil. They are multinational. They and their executives know allegiance to no one.

You know, for all the wailing and gnashing of teeth you hear from some quarters about American soverignty (see UN, NATO, NAFTA, etc.), they sure don't seem to care that these bodies get to exist and operate freely and extranationally, regardless of how much impact they have on the economy and governance of the US.

...and no bail. You really can't trust him not to leave our jurisdiction after being arrested. Money like that doesn't need a passport.

Seriously, I haven't bought any BP products since they bungled the Gulf mess. If enough people do it, it will make an impact. Go down the street and pay 5 cents more; stand up for your principles and take action, no matter how small. Without at least that, there is no room for talk...

Yes you have.

Just because you're driving by BP stations doesn't mean you aren't buying BP gasoline.

You know, we could also put sanctions on Exon, if they want to play big.

This might be unrelated to this story, but what I want to know is when people were screaming and moaning about gas prices then chanting drill baby drill, the US is now the second largest oil producing country in the world:

http://www.eia.gov/countries/index.cfm?view=production

Yet, all that increased production, not to mention that we're now sending more than 250K barrels a day to other countries:

http://www.upi.com/Business_News/Energy-Resources/2014/06/16/US-oil- ex ports-highest-in-15-years/9741402927256/
has done nothing for our gas prices.... I know, capitalism.

Pffft. They'll get their just reward in due time. It's inevitable their Russian partners will shaft them, just like Russian companies and politicians shaft any other western companies investing in the country.

Not surprised.   Exxon sued the US governement for damages and won for the distruction of their property in Germany during WWII.

Yeah, you would have something negative to say about Canada.

/Think about it, won't you?

I'm sure the Canadians are very sorry about this whole thing. Yes, all of them.

Goddamn, the ignorance and butthurt in this thread are legendary.

It's the World Petroleum Congress, a global organization. They have these meetings all over the world, this time it happens to be in Russia; last time it was in Qatar.  Tillerson is going to be there with like 30 other speakers and hundreds of attendees. Daniel Yergin is slated to speak there as well, and I don't see you all tripping over each other's foaming mouths to revoke his passport and toss him in Gitmo; why is he exempt?

^This.

The only thing he wants from Fartbongo is regulations and restrictions.

Keeps the price high while he goes and drills elsewhere.
