It's all fun in games, till the pup gets eaten by the cheetah.

There's a cheetah cub and a puppy that grew up at Busch Gardens, I guess that's a thing.

Rhodesian Ridgeback.  That dog was bred specifically to aid hunters in Africa to keep a lion at bay so its master could kill it.  A cheetah isn't going to be a threat.

The lesser known Zimbabwean Ridgeback was also developed for the same job, except hyper inflation kicked in. You need 1.4 Billion of them to keep a single lion at bay.

Now that is the type of obtuse and otiose that I love.

Its actually incredibly common to pair cheetahs with a dog. The dog helps draw the cheetah out for various showings like at the zoo. From what I've read the dog/life partner helps calm them down a lot and get them to relax. If the dog dies the cheetah gets super depressed and never pairs up with another dog.

As I understand it they tend to become 'pack' or 'family', with the dog generally in charge.  Even if the dog is a laid back breed like Labrador.

Yeah and cheetahs are specialized in speed, not fighting. They have smaller jaws and teeth and more fragile bodies than other felines. No need for the dog to worry.

Also, interspecies friendship is not that rare, when accustomed at a young age.

By neighbor had a Rhodesian when I was in Jr. High. The oldest son was my age, and there was a pair of twins about 6 years old. The twins used to ride on him in the back yard. At the same time.

Rhodesian Ridgebacks are the bomb.  This dog will grow up with the Cheetah and be the perfect playmate.  I know they have been bred to be lion-hunting dogs, but as it is socialized with the Cheetah it will see it as a best friend.

Crappy link; click the one in the article subby linked and you get video. Local TV news video, so it still sucks, but any puppy-kitten video is better than none.

They are also quite popular in bear and hog hunting.

I can see that.  Such great dogs.  Utterly fearless with great endurance.

The really fun part about NoScript is when you go to some particularly trashy site with a video, and you're stuck playing a game of "guess the site" you have to allow before you can get the damn thing to work.

/by "fun" I mean "not fun at all."
//fark yourself, garbage websites.
