Let us see how far the Flyers made it in the playoffs...

Taken out in the first round by one of those "choke teams"?

You don't sound bitter at all.

He also has one of those punchable faces.

As a Flyers fan, I can say that nobody on our team was going to make this list because the expectations for the playoffs were that we maybe would get out of the first round. You can't choke if there are no real expectations. And as sweet as it would have been to beat the Rangers, it didn't really surprise many people when we didn't.

Sabres fan.

Never has a dog.  Spent all season waiting for the Draft Lottery.  Which we lost, of course.

Not sure Crosby choked. Looked more like he just gave up early in frustration. Which is waaaaaay worse, imo.

Ok, I'm going to be that guy and take a small dump on LA; it's a lot easier to move through the playoffs when you don't even have to leave your state for the first two rounds. Hell, against Anaheim, they had to travel about what? 30 minutes?

Take a look at everyone else in the playoffs (east and west) and look at the amount if travel they had to go through. Anyone who says that doesnt make a difference is an idiot.

Kudos to LA for winning the Cup, but they also got hella lucky with their route through the playoffs and that made it a lot easier for them.

I was about to comment that I'm surprised the entire article isn't just the word "sharks" ctrl+v'd about 500 times

You may be on to something with the Anaheim matchup -- not having to get onto a plane at all is probably a good thing. But I'm going to go ahead and guess that the Rangers traveled fewer miles in the first two rounds than the Kings did.

It's not as if the Rangers had to travel very far, either.  In fact, I would bet without doing the math beforehand that they traveled less than the Kings did for the entire playoffs.  Pittsburgh and Montreal are only slightly farther away from New York than San Jose is from Los Angeles and certainly they are closer than Chicago from LA.  Just because a team travels out of state doesn't mean that they went very far, and just because a team stays within a state doesn't mean it's a short hour-long bus ride to the other arena.

Sure, if you ignore the regular season, where the Rangers traveled the least and the Kings traveled the fifth most. But hey, I'm sure your jab about everyone being an idiot if they don't realize it matters in the playoffs stands.

There are eight NHL cities within driving distance of each other on the Eastern Seaboard, and you're complaining that the LA Kings have the luxury of not traveling much?

Nash is a disappointment, yes.

Ricards however is not, because we didn't expect much out of him anyway.

Our two "top" forwards were useless and we were within 3-goals of winning the cup.

No chance that LA had an easy route. Sure, travel was a joke, but the actual matchups were not even close.

Anaheim was 1 point away from the President's Trophy.

San Jose was tied for 4 most points in the NHL.

Chicago, last year's champs, were 6th.

It might have made a bit of a difference, but no one would say LA would have a "tough" road if they had to go through Winnipeg, Minnesota and Edmonton instead.

Going to the Finals isn't big enough for you?  After the years of abject shiate Dolan and Sather put Rangers' fans through, I'm happy they didn't capitulate to the Penguins.

To be fair- Price was ridiculous. It's hard to get scoring on a dude like Price. Had he stayed in the finals, I think the Rags wouldn't have made it.

The only think lucic did was make sure Danny DeKeyser won't have kids and can sing in a higher register. And yes, he got away with it. $5000 fine? What a joke.

That said, the wings choked too. Rather, they didn't really show up. I think they were in way over their heads. Franzen was MIA, and Nyquist turned into Nyquil.

What a bunch of hogwash.
Sure, maybe with Anaheim it was easy, but the distance between LA and SJ is not significantly different than the distance from Chicago to St. Louis or St. Paul.  Meanwhile New York played Philadelphia in the 1st round, which is less than 100mi away.  That's like a 30 minute flight.  But yeah, that one short-travel series totally puts an asterisk on them having to play the Sharks, Ducks, and Blackhawks. *eyeroll*

Would this sort of BS even come up if, say, NJ had won in 2012?
I'm guessing not, even though they played Philly in the early rounds which is basically the same distance from LA that Anaheim is.
I swear, people cook up any goddamn excuse for losing.

And the Cubs have a World Series trophy too. Leafs and Blues are tied with the longest active Cup-less streak. Still have a few years till NY Rangers' mark of 54 years is broken.

Yes, from before the Blues even existed.
The Leafs have not won a Cup, nor even been to the finals, since the time when there were only 6 teams.
So, yeah, they have won the Stanley Cup, but it was functionally in an entirely different hockey league.

Oh, come on. We were in the playoffs in 2010, and in the Super Bowl 7 years ago. It's not like we're the Lions (56 years since a championship game), one of the ten teams that hasn't won a SB, or the Bills (14 seasons since a playoff appearance).
