From the pic in TFA, that's a scary looking kid. If pets kept disappearing in the neighborhood, I'd check his bedroom for cat skeletons first.

If the school is actually for kids with behavior problems they deal with this stuff every day. My son goes to a school where kids have Autism and also Emotional Disabilities. You work through this stuff with the kid and not allow them to have a back pack for a few weeks. Hell kids threaten this kind of stuff everyday at level 5 schools. A kid on my Social Work case load greatness to kill or maim staff daily, they ignore it because she does it to get a rise out of people and has no access to guns at home. I'm not sure this woman was enrolling her son into what she thought it was.

1. 8 year old in the first year of school.
2. $119,500 for 5 month's tuition.
3. The school saying we hope you'll come back after one year of homeschooling.
4. All this and the parents are divorcing.

This is like dog years or centimeters or converting dollars into Burmese kyat by the official rate. Somehow the math doesn't add up. The expulsion does add up though....take the money and if you want us so badly pay double next time. Private schools can pick and choose their students you know.

You know...I think most teachers give these things a pass and shrug it off.

Except when the kid doing it pretty much makes the teacher say "I'm even tried of you shait" and goes full throw the book.

To be fair, based on what's in the article, this kid does sound like someone you'd expect to shoot up a school in another 8-10 years or so.

I don't think a day went by in grade school where someone didn't they were going to kill someone.

It doesn't mean I was going to go all columbiney,  it's just a phrase.

Everybody whining and whinging about school shooting complains that they didn't see the signs, their kid didn't get the treatment he deserved, etc.

Here?  If this 'special needs' child were never to have been punished for death threats and a simulated gun, he would have progressed to death actions with a real gun.

This is a future school shooting, aborted before viability.  Eating a pop-tart in the shape of gun is harmless.  This kid would've shot somebody if he'd gotten his hands on a real gun.  The school is a pretty big f*cking hero in this case.

Our school district has one school for the window lickers who ride the short bus, they have a looser set of rules to deal with unruly kids, in short the have to use judgement

120k in 5 months? I'm clearly in the wrong profession. Time to open a private school! I'll be hiring 1-2 teachers at 50% above the going rate for public school.

If there are any concerns I can be reached at my office on an island full of liquor and naked women.

The kid's retarded, and thus needs closer supervision.

A teacher at a public school makes 43k$ a year on average to look after 20-30 students at a time.  A special ed class requires easily one teacher per five kids, maybe more.  So the cost increase being a factor of five or ten when you stack that with retard-herding requiring an extra couple years of training over regular-dumb-kid herding isn't unreasonable.

// Plus, higher innate liability.  Normal kids aren't fully legally responsible for themselves, but if they do something like lock themselves in the bathroom and hang themselves it's not really the schools' fault.  With mentally defective kids... it is.  So you have to watch 'em everywhere, which is extra work as well.

I'm waiting for that and/or a Rodney King style 'stop resisting' moment. Don't think it'll happen? there's always a few super whacks hidding in the ranks of the boys in blue that go all out as soon as he hears the phrase 'weapon' in the call.

It's like watching a trained, rabid pug run wild.
