Noooooope.

Try again in six months. Oops. I meant years. Six years.

Why would you want him to bother trying again?

The few hundred thousands of people you would have threw into war if you were elected President say, "Eh, I'm on the fence".

It doesn't matter how bad he was. To the Republicans, any one of their candidates can do no wrong because it's a million times better than "Hitler" -whom they invariably always equate the Democratic opponent with.

I was just being polite. Telling somebody "I'd like to maybe see you again in six years" is kinder than saying, "I'd like to only see you again right as the giant asteroid is about to strike the earth."

I'd want him try again because it would be a sure win for the Dem running against him.

I don't know about a "sure" win. Obama's approval ratings weren't low enough to make him vulnerable. But if Romney ran against another newcomer, it's not going to be the same race, despite the fact that he's the same candidate with the same 1%er flaws.

Yeah, I should know better than to say "sure", but I don't see us 99%ers getting any happier.

I look at the 2016 presidential race as a jury trial. Both sides are going to make their case and a bunch of dumbshiats who couldn't get out of jury duty are going to vote to decide the fate of the country for the next four years.

There's a scene in the "Mitt" documentary where the family is asked "If Mitt loses would you be willing to go through this again?".  All of them including Mitt chime in "no no no never again this is a one time thing we'd never go through this again nope no never...".

That was shot in 2008 before McCain picked up the GOP nomination.

Same thing after he loses.  Glad it's over.  Never do this again.  Country is in Bush-malaise that the next president is going to have to shoulder.  Those grapes were sour anyways.

....aaaaaand cut to Mitt winning the nomination in 2012.  Red white and blue balloons fall from the ceiling.

Ironically, the biggest hope for the country right now is the Tea Party (IMO). The longer they divide the GOP, the harder it will be for them to gain power.

ginandbacon: Mitch Taylor's Bro: But if Romney ran against another newcomer

Who do you think Romney was running against the first time? And do you think Romney was a newcomer?

He ran against a sitting president, whose approval ratings didn't sink so low as to merit a serious challenge. And Romney had never won the right to contend for the presidency prior to 2012. *IF* he were to get the Republican nomination in 2016, he would be running against another "challenger." Perhaps that is a better term than newcomer.

They had enough trouble with his program last time... he glitched and his first presidential foreign policy tour began months before the election.
