So being sports dorks is not an entirely American problem?

So, a broke country with horrible infrastructure won't see the game on TV?

I'm confused. Where does the part about Ghana come in to this story?

I suspect it's also so that people watching the game don't brown out or burn out the grid and cause problems with other things that rely on electricity.

I don't think I can root against my own country, but the pre-butthurt in this headline is convincing me that we deserve to lose.

And when Ghana wins, all 6 people able to watch it are going to do the safety dance in the street.

This shouldn't be a surprise to anyone.  Have you lived in Africa?  Let's just say a horrible electrical grid is only one of a thousand problems you have to overcome.

Chauffeur: I'm here to pick up the Ambassador from Ghana.

Lisa: Well he's not here! Nobody's here! And none of you should be here!! You've all been tricked!

Chauffeur: Why would the Ambassador do such a thing?

Oh well, here today, gone to Ghana.

Oh, god no. No sport played nationally by the US commands anywhere near the attention and celebration that futbol does in other countries.

Why'd you get a small? Every size is the same price.

To ensure that World Cup viewing won't be interrupted, Ghana is purchasing 50 megawatts of electricity from its neighbor, Ivory Coast.

1000% elephant-powered.

Rationing cabbage in the U.S. in favor of the game would get someone voted out of office.

Perhaps people in the Dallas-Fort Worth area can correct me (I heard this second-hand), but didn't preparations for Super Bowl XLV cause power to be diverted from homes (which suffered rolling blackouts because of an ice storm)?
