Sounds like someone's bucking for the Galactic Institute's Prize for Extreme Cleverness.

Isn't that what caused things to go south in Event Horizon?

The trick was using a cup of really hot tea.

I think the problem there was their drive was based on Bistromathics.

Oh no, not again.

Is that implying they had too much coffee during the design phase?

More likely they pissed off one of the waiters and suffered for it in the coordinates.

Congratulations, anonymous Tech Times writer, on composing a mass of gibberish that makes it sound as if an effect known to every physicist for the last goddamn century was just discovered.  As best I can figure, the actual scienticians reported some sort of correlated tunneling effect with Bose-Einstein condensates.

/doesn't get invited to those sort of parties

This line made me belly laugh for ten minutes straight when I first read it. That everyone else fails to have the same reaction never ceases to confuse and frighten me.

No kidding. Is the important part here the 0K environment?

Without quantum tunneling the sun wouldn't work.

/we also knew that balls don't roll through hills

An improbability drive?

That doesn't sound very likely.

Sorry to rain on everyone's parade, but the description sounds more like an Oscillation Overthruster than an Infinite Improbability Drive.

I don't have time to read this stuff. A whale just fell out of the sky and cleanup is going up suck.

I'm afraid this is only a finite improbability drive. Only adequate for moving a co-eds under garments two feet to the left.

I'll look for an article when they've perfected the party favour version of this.  The one that causes the hostess's panties to drop off.

But it's folly to say you know what is happening to other people. Only they know. If they exist.
