And by that logic, we shouldn't have hooked up with Stalin in WWII, either.  Which you should have led with, since predicting the future for that relationship was a hell of a lot more obvious than the examples you gave.

Iran: "that was you. Those were Iranian revolutionary guards"

USA: "Oh sorry our bad. Let's us know exactly where all the revolutionary guards are in country and we'll be extra careful not to do that any more."

USA to their drone operators: "hey guys the Iranians are sending us the positions of high value targets in Iraq"

Malaki,  Spent 20+ years in exile as the Iranian's guest (apparently, he was well taken care of under their watch.)

Iraq's highest ranking cleric is Grand Ayatollah Ali Sistani, who like Malaki not only spent a number of years in exile in Iran, but was born in Iran to boot.

Achmed Chalabi (wolfewitz's and perle's butt buddy) - turns out he was working for the Iranians all along and revealed to Iran that the US had cracked their encryption codes.

The very first treaty the newly organized govt of Iraq signed (under the Bush Administrations watchful gaze) was with Iran.

The war in Iraq has been over for years, just few realized it.  The final is that Iran won.  They eliminated their biggest rival in the region (with whom they had gone to war on a few occasions)  and not only replaced them with fellow shia's, but with those who owed Iran numerous favors and perhaps loyalty.

This is a classic bumblefark of epic proportions, all which can be laid at the feet of those in the Bush administration who pushed us over the cliff and into this war.  If you didn't think this was a foreseeable event, you can search the archives on Fark, where I voiced the prediction that Iran would be the ultimate winner and that the US was doomed to failure in the long run.  And it wasn't only me, there were several posters from that time who opposed the war because there was little to gain and much to lose.

Watching these fark-ups who got us into this mess in the first place running around trying to blame Obama would be laughable it it weren't so sad.  The SOFA, which required all US troops to exit Iraq by Jan 1, 2012 was put into place by Bush as of Nov 17, 2008.   Malaki doesn't want any power sharing with the Sunni's because his mentors and masters in Tehran don't want him to.

Enough US lives have been lost, let the Iranian's do the dirty work this time around.
