That was terribly annoying. All those biddies and their cooing squeals.

Lucky dog.

I had a blind cat once. He caught flies using only his sense of hearing.

///Then he'd eat them.

2014-06-16 05:59:08 PM
I so hoped the dog went full pitbull after 10 seconds of cat-like squealing from a bunch of middle-aged tubby women.

What brought tears to my eyes was the pain in my ears from all that screeching!

Otherwise, not a dog person myself, but they are pretty cool in their interactions with humans.

I had a Scottish Terrier named Duffy when I was a kid. He got hit by a car and I found him on the side of the road when I was riding my bike before I even knew he was missing.

/This was a cool video though, except for the loud ladies.

cool story, what kind of surgery did the dog have on his eyes? Is the procedure analogous to what a blind person with diabetes might have? I suppose this could be considered 'animal testing' if the procedure hasn't moved to people yet.

2014-06-16 06:34:29 PM
If the dog was diabetic (according to the article he was) then the assumption is he went blind from cataracts.  Cataract surgery is being almost routine in pets, assuming the owners can a. Afford it and b. can manage the initial post operative care which requires many medications given very frequently.

I used to send money to feed those blind, starving kids in Africa.  I did, until I found out 80% of my contribution was going to feed Sally Struthers.

Click the video.  But hide all pointy objects that can fit in your ears first, so you aren't tempted to stab your eardrums out.

Or you could turn the sound off, I suppose.

The big blond dog in my profile was 15 1/2 the day that picture was taken. We were on the way to put him down because he was sick. I will always take care of my dogs' needs.

I had a diabetic dog.  Cataract surgery is cheaper than finding a doctor in Africa, getting a doctor to Africa, or getting equipment to treat cataracts in Africa.

Useless comments about their weight, I'd say you have a point on the misogyny thing.

Complaints about that horrible cacophony they're making, not so much.

This
I am a woman and I had to mute that noise.

My brother has a blind dog. It lost it's first eye to an infection before he got it. The vet said at the time that she'd lose the second one 'soon'. She lost it last fall and now is a completely eyeless dog. She doesn't seem to have much trouble though.

Not trying to be snarky, but I have two dogs that are that  happy, or happier to see me every day when I get home from work.  It was a nice video, but I expected something different than a normal, happy dog seeing the people in his pack.

Eh, to be honest people should be disgusted. It was utterly preventable as it was caused by diabetes. You know how long it takes to become blind from diabetes? Those biatches have been feeding that dog poorly for years and kept on doing it.

The dog should have it's eyesight restored and been placed in a new loving home where they actually care for him. Odds are he's back to eating table scraps already...

Um, TFA said it was a rescue dog that had an some ongoing health issues, including diabetes.  Please don't spew misinformation.
