Arguably there are a lot of tricks to helping people remember things that they can't recall. Its not necessarily "unscientific" the science of memory is strange. Unconcious memory isn't something you never knew, just something you've forgotten. Its likely stored in there somewhere.

While what is presented on this blog is at least mildly interesting, I'd like to read the actual paper. I wouldn't be surprised if the actual paper says "Well, sometimes it works, but generally speaking, no."
