This.

Funny how it's never a Labrador, or a Beagle, or a German Sheppard, or a Chow, or any number of other breeds and mixes. Nope, it always seems to be a pit bull or a pit bull mix that suddenly turns and viciously attacks without notice or provocation.

buntz: I work in a guest relations office and I don't doubt this story for a minute!

The things people will complain about is mind blowing.

The depths people will go to try and get something free is staggering.

I have no doubt the thought process was "That girl is hard to look at, I lost my appetite, I want my KFC meal for free now"

Not a doubt in my mind

100% this.

I'm sure it was less traumatic than the story makes it out to be, but after working in Disneyland for ten years, I have NO doubt that some asshole decided to go to the manager because "There is an unattractive child in here, my delicate digestion is upset so give me my money back."

Or that the spineless manager immediately went to the mom and said with an apologetic tone in her voice, "Ma'am, I'm sorry, but someone is complaining about your daughter...she's going to have to leave" because the typical corporate response nowadays is to give managers no leeway to say "Grow some balls, nancy and let a child be ugly." No, the default is cave immediately because LAWSUIT!!!

Oh, and if anyone bothered to read TFA, the girl was attacked by her family's own pitbulls who were then shot by her own grandfather. No doubt about either the breed of the dog or the nature of the attack.

Pit bulls like any other dog can be good or bad, but at the pet clinic I work at I've only seen one or two that worried me...chows and sharpeis otoh...no thanks! We even had a pit bull puppy in about a week ago, 130#. If you own a potentially dangerous breed, it's your responsibility to train it and keep it under control. Of course the same can be said about parents...if you have a kid, don't leave your kid around a dog that could bite.

Actually, when you google for the news reports of dog attacks (not websites put up by crazy people, or wikipedia articles dominated by the same people) you see that the distribution is pretty equal among large breeds.  I've done this about five times in threads over the years.  Animals are dangerous.  Cats bite the shiat out of people all the time.

Complete and total bullshiat.  If you want to get some actual facts, consult the CDC

In the 9-year period from 2005 to 2013, pit bulls killed 176 Americans and accounted for 62% of the total recorded deaths (283). Combined, pit bulls and rottweilers accounted for 74% of these deaths.

Idk, but it seems you're arguing apples and oranges here...not all attacks are deadly, and unless it's bad enough may not even get reported at all. I work with dogs daily, and the number of small dog bites way outnumber the big dogs, but being bit in the face by a Chihuahua doesn't make the headlines like being mauled by a pit bull.

So bulldogs are like pit bull owners?

poison_amy: I am throwing my name onto the "this didn't happen" board also.  Most people passing by in a restaurant  wouldn't even notice her "disfigurement" and those that did wouldn't be so scared they couldn't move on with their lives and eat their chicken.

You don't know people's base nature...

I've lived with a twisted and disfigured arm all my life. Most strangers just get a little uncomfortable around me when they first spot my disfigured arm, where they instinctively pull back and their whole body becomes visibly stiffer. A few people just completely freak out.

When growing up. I had encounters with other kids' parents who would freak out, convinced that I could infect her children with some horrible disease they imagined I had. When I was a cashier in my college years, there were customers who refused to come into my empty line, or who would immediately back out of the line the moment they saw me.

It does not surprise me at all that some reactionary helicopter parent would freak out at the sight of a disfigured child at the restaurant .

letrole: Someone who owns a pit bull also tends to:
1. Buy twenty lottery tickets each week.
2. Have a tattoo on their hands or neck.
3. Pursue futile workman's comp claims.
4. Take photographs of babies holding beer cans.
5. Prominently display an electric guitar in the living room.
6. Sport a shaven head.
7. Invite the parole officer for Thanksgiving dinner.
8. Lift weights in the front garden.
9. Wear t-shirts featuring profanity.
10. Have at least two stepchildren, each with a different surname.

LaBlueSkuld:You forgot:
11. Has a rusted out hunk of junk luxury car splaid out in the back of their driveway that they just have to fix the transmission, replace the motor, restore several parts of the frame and get a completely new paint job and it'll be as good as new.

That's not a common attribute of someone who owns a pit bull.

2014-06-15 05:03:14 PM
In after the pit bull apologists try to reason us into their logic of saying "omg....not only pit bulls attack people". Funny, but i have never heard of a lab mauling a child, or a beagle, although I'm sure it happens from time to time, one must admit that pit bulls seem to exist to ravage the young and elderly. Much like a lion picks out the weak and young in a herd of animals. But just keep having those pit bulls, we all know its a status symbol for you, and makes you feel more like "a man".

So how long ago did the Kfarkick them out? Because if you look at her pics... her latest it's hard to tell she got bitten. But a few weeks ago her face looked like the KFC should be selling her, not serving her.

Look there's an evolutionary psychology reason why we're scared of freaky-looking people: A mangled face looks a lot like a case of the pox; and even if it's just a wound, the wounds themselves can be infected (realistically, to some degree, always will be until they heal); and lastly people who are in pain are not known for their friendliness and patience, even if they're not contagious.

"She can't help it" is somewhat a valid argument, but it's being taken too far. The dad walking around like an autist, "hey it's not my daughter's fault so I'm sure no one will have a problem" is absurd. She's 3. Responsibility falls to the parents to be her cushion between her and the rest of the world. Figure it out. Think about what will happen when you go places.

cryinoutloud: HST's Dead Carcass: I think we found a strong case for WHY the family is claiming this has happened. Those medical bills ain't cheap, ya know.

You kind of get that feeling if you look at their Facebook page (linked at Huffpo)

Victoria's family is struggling financially due to the fact that the insurance company is refusing to pay for many of her medicines and anything to do with her feeding tube or formula which is $550 a month. Please continue to pray for Victoria and for God to make a way financially. Thanks for the support!

KFC has reached out for more information thanks to the overwhelming support for Victoria. Thank you for sharing her story and please continue to pray for her and her recovery. She still has several surgeries in her future and will continue to need our love and support.

Several people have asked what they can do outside of money, because Victoria has struggled with her new appearance and she will not be able to have her eye socket repaired anytime soon we are buying decorative eye patches for her. They can be purchased online at etsy.com, ebay.com or amazon.com. they are usually between $10-$15 apiece. If you would like to mail an eye patch please do so to 120 Blessed Drive Harrisville MS 39082
Please remember to purchase for the RIGHT eye. Thanks for all the support for this sweet child.
https://www.etsy.com/market/kids_eye_patch

I found this page from the facebook group, which I found in the article about this lovely girl being asked to leave a restaurant. I just can't believe what I read and wanted to do something to help, even if I don't have much to donate. Victoria is a beautiful little girl, with or without her scars.

Now I'm not saying that this couldn't have happened at KFC, maybe it did, but the family is looking at a lot of surgery for this kid (that's also detailed on the Facebook page.) It's now been several months since the attack, support is probably dropping off now......lots of people in the world to feel sorry for, aft ...

Wait wait I thought O'bummer care was supposed to stop these kinds of shenanigans. Thanks Nobama!
