moran_moran: abhorrent1: Reddit is better anyway. Fark just laps up their leftovers

Reddit seems to be mostly tweeners. Chive is hipsters.
Fark is ours. You can shutdown Fark when you pry this mouse out of my cold dead hand. I have a constitutional right to bare Fark. Fark is the last page of the Internet. Kinda like how roaches will survive the nuclear holocaust. That's it!

Fark, the cockroach of the Internet.

they had better aim well - impervious to bug spray - impossible to lasso

Caffeine Induced Diarrhea: Whatchoo Talkinbout: Fark Britain. Twice.

Dont you mean bugger?

buggering would assume anal-sex would be involved, and as a recent article on fark pointed out, that's a really good way to get an STD ....

Anyone have the link to the video of the kid singing the offensive song to the munchkins?  I'd like to see it for myself for the full-on laugh-out-loud comedy of seeing what people seem to be taking so much offense at.

Evan Daniel Emory, the 21-year-old Ravenna-area man convicted of a felony after posting an edited YouTube video that made it appear he was singing a sexually explicit song to a class of first-graders

Shett! Pick on someone your own size!
He should be sentenced to 60 days in a pillory at the front of the class at those kids's class.
Then he can learn what trolling is.
Not sorry in the least for him.
thats what happens to people that "read it" too much

TheWhoppah: Britain is a backwards land where the citizens are "subjects of the crown" and freedom of speech and the press are limited to topics that do not upset the ruling class.
This was not inciting a riot or any such thing, that man was jailed for offensive speech.
English are too stupid to have a revolution of their own.

THAT'S WHY WE LIVE HERE, MOTHERF*CKERS!!! HA HA HA!!!

We have all kinds of crazy going on, but going to jail solely for "offensive Facebook posting" isn't one of them. Yet.

It's amazing that these people managed to control half the known world at one point. I guess that's what happens when you send your good genetic material off to die in france.

I don't think they should have jailed him....just put him in a room with no windows for an hour with the husband/boyfriend/father other relatives of the woman who was stabbed to death.

HST's Dead Carcass: walktoanarcade: jehovahs witness protection: Removal of gun rights leads to removal of free speech.

They have nothing to do with each other.

Loss of free speech comes purely by the masses staying quiet while a loud outspoken minority of speech-haters dictate what is and what is not acceptable and allowed to be said in public spaces.

If some guy is open-carrying and comes near a crowd of oppressed people (speech-wise), his weapon is not going to magically allow them to break fascist rules laid down by police or any city.

Really? Guns protect speech?

LOL!!!!!

My friend owns a liquor store where they do Taste Testings of booze every Saturday. Yesterday they were setting up the stand for said taste testings. Some 2nd Amendment yahoo comes through the door with a pistol strapped to his waist. The guy was only about 5'5", and I didn't even see the weapon from behind the counter.

Owner: "I'm gonna need you to leave your weapon in the car, sir."
Yahoo: "I have been given this privelege to carry a weapon by THE Constitution of the United States, are you trying to infringe upon my rights?"
Owner: "The law states you cannot carry firearms in places where alcohol is served. Go to your car and remove your firearm. At this point, that's all I'm asking."
Yahoo: "At this point? I thought this was a free country! This isn't a bar, it's a liquor store!"
Owner: "I'm not sure you heard me, we serve alcohol here. We have a sign clearly posted on the front door that says NO Weapons Allowed..."
Yahoo: "How can a liquor store serve alcohol..."
Owner: "I also have the right to refuse service to anyone. I am now enacting that right, get out of my store. You cannot carry a firearm while I am serving alcohol."

The owner, who is a body builder, steps out to escort the guy out of the store and there was a bunch of talking over each other, basically, the tiny gun nut was telling the owner not to put his hands on him and his buddies will be hearing about this, and the owner just ...

This happened

No, most of his posts are just one-liner troll comments where he pretends to be a dumb right-winger. He thinks it's witty.

JSTACAT : Not sorry in the least for him.

You don't need to feel "sorry" for him. You need to feel scared, or better, infuriated.

If the law doesn't protect asshats who take a joke too far, it doesn't protect any of us.  He did absolutely nothing illegal, the judge even admitted that people without kids probably wouldn't see the problem, and yet because he couldn't afford a better lawyer, he gets to do actual jail time and can't go within 500ft of anywhere kids congregate?  And the whole work-release thing reads like a distopian joke - Of course people take a crappy job to get out of jail, did anyone seriously think inmates (or anyone else for that matter) like working at McDonalds?

2014-06-15 05:20:54 PM
Maybe the constitution will finally begin glowing from its ashes and the portal between first and fourth amendments allows such litigations to, themselves be a form of offensiveness that is as jailable as the arguments that lead to such litigations.

pla: Because People in power are Stupid : No mention of Evan Emory.

"Mr. Emory, you are not a parent and if you were, you would have never engaged yourself in this type of behavior. Those of us who are parents take a very dim view of this behavior. I suspect those who aren't, don't find this to be a big deal"

So even the judge admits that Emory, as well as the majority of people under 20 (and quite a few adults), didn't see any harm in what he did?  Damn, too bad he plead NC (and has no money for a real lawyer), he'd have a heck of an appeal.

Pathetic.  We deserve the asteroid at this point - "Boo hoo, you offended me, how can I go on with life?"  Y'know what?  Just don't.  Just lie down and die now, you unbearably fragile coont, and let the rest of us go on with our lives on this filthy, violent ball of mud.

/ Gee, I hope this doesn't offend anyone!

Not to mention, I've seen this same stunt done many times. ( Reno 911, tosh.0 come to mind) I didn't see Emory's "performance" but there has been no criminal actions against others.

I would like to say right now at this point that I will dedicate my entire existence to art. Every movement, every sound I make, every. thing. I. Type.

Will Be Art. (jazz hands)

And as such anything I say is protected as free speech because if I say anything offensive it is for the sake of art and meant to highlight the terrible things people say as opposed to me saying it. (dramatic pose)

Which would be offensive.(ironic look)

Even these words are art, designed to highlight this issue in the particular slant that I, being the artist, choose to create.

(very serious look meant to suggest hidden meaning)

(fade)

There`s a bucketload of crazy there and I`m not getting involved.

It took that long for me to decide that and type this...

LazyMedia: Deacon Blue: bekovich: Where else can I post ineffectual comments that no one reads? :(

Buy a journal and write it out longhand.  Seems to be the only way not to get jailed.

Or just don't live in Britain.

Seems someone didn't recognize a "Orwellian" moment.

Yeah. Stand down from drill. It's our crippled little sister across the Atlantic who is incarcerating her citizens for "offencive" language. It's still okay to be like that on this side of the pond.

HST's Dead Carcass: Frank N Stein: Or you could just dislike some of his policies. Either one works I guess

Which policies in particular? I am generally curious, as most the policies and actions have direct emulations of policies and actions of G.W. Not all, they are different in many areas, but I am curious which ones and is there's some cognitive dissonance involved with the policies.

You seem rather intelligent, so I am truly curious.

Igor Jakovsky: Who gives a sh*t was such a well thought out reply. It doesnt change the fact that England doesnt really have a constitution in the same vein as many other countries. I never thought Id be having an argument about the semantics of the English system of laws this morning but here I am.

Who gives a sh*t was in reply to the UK's constitution not being "a single document" being justification for the absurdity of the original post which reads like there are no freedom of speech in the UK.  It's a retarded statement considering the Brits came up with it in the 1600s.
