FTA Lawyer and legal blogger Lyndon Harris described Newsome's case as "a knee jerk reaction by the CPS" and told the Guardian the law is "failing miserably. At what point does unpleasant become criminal? You're just locking people up for saying nasty things. If someone said that to you in the pub and you went to the police, they'd tell you to go away."

Seems to sum it up.

They have nothing to do with each other.

Loss of free speech comes purely by the masses staying quiet while a loud outspoken minority of speech-haters dictate what is and what is not acceptable and allowed to be said in public spaces.

If some guy is open-carrying and comes near a crowd of oppressed people (speech-wise), his weapon is not going to magically allow them to break fascist rules laid down by police or any city.

Really? Guns protect speech?

"Mr. Emory, you are not a parent and if you were, you would have never engaged yourself in this type of behavior. Those of us who are parents take a very dim view of this behavior. I suspect those who aren't, don't find this to be a big deal"

So even the judge admits that Emory, as well as the majority of people under 20 (and quite a few adults), didn't see any harm in what he did?  Damn, too bad he plead NC (and has no money for a real lawyer), he'd have a heck of an appeal.

Pathetic.  We deserve the asteroid at this point - "Boo hoo, you offended me, how can I go on with life?"  Y'know what?  Just don't.  Just lie down and die now, you unbearably fragile coont, and let the rest of us go on with our lives on this filthy, violent ball of mud.

I think probably the latter as they're practically extinct.

And the guy who kicked me out? He wears a fedora. I think it was meant to be. I don't need his shiatty arcade anyway, as there's at least one honest to goodness arcade left, and they like me, so..
(yeah, I know not all atheists are like that)

Also, and I am not sure, but I think he hates it when someone beats his high scores too. What a douche.

I do know that his jukebox has a sign that spells out tons of genres not to play enough to the point that no one bothers because his biatch wife (of whom he calls a biatch and gladly allows her to needlessly nag customers..) will turn anything off that she dislikes.

I'm not exactly broken up over not being there.

My friend owns a liquor store where they do Taste Testings of booze every Saturday. Yesterday they were setting up the stand for said taste testings. Some 2nd Amendment yahoo comes through the door with a pistol strapped to his waist. The guy was only about 5'5", and I didn't even see the weapon from behind the counter.

Owner: "I'm gonna need you to leave your weapon in the car, sir."
Yahoo: "I have been given this privelege to carry a weapon by THE Constitution of the United States, are you trying to infringe upon my rights?"
Owner: "The law states you cannot carry firearms in places where alcohol is served. Go to your car and remove your firearm. At this point, that's all I'm asking."
Yahoo: "At this point? I thought this was a free country! This isn't a bar, it's a liquor store!"
Owner: "I'm not sure you heard me, we serve alcohol here. We have a sign clearly posted on the front door that says NO Weapons Allowed..."
Yahoo: "How can a liquor store serve alcohol..."
Owner: "I also have the right to refuse service to anyone. I am now enacting that right, get out of my store. You cannot carry a firearm while I am serving alcohol."

The owner, who is a body builder, steps out to escort the guy out of the store and there was a bunch of talking over each other, basically, the tiny gun nut was telling the owner not to put his hands on him and his buddies will be hearing about this, and the owner just kept repeating he needs to leave the store NOW.

It ended with the guy saying something about the military protecting his freedoms, etc and the owner telling him: "I spent 27 years in the military, our store is Vet owned and operated. I was the one that served the time to guarantee that right. Which branch did you serve in?"

The owner is a retired full bird Colonel, btw.

The point is, yahoo's will use ANY excuse to talk about the8ir 2nd amendment rights, even when they are in the wrong. The yahoo wanted to be like those Open Carry Taxes fools and picked the wrong store to do it in.

Of course, this came 3 weeks after a regular customer of the store (who was a Vet, and a chaplain as well), started shooting at his friends one night, then got into a shootout with the police... and lost. The guy is 72 years old and was shot through the belly by the police, and has a court date next week for 4 counts of attempted homicide, 2 of those again Law Enforcement Officers.

The strangest part about this is it has not hit the news AT ALL. Mainly because here in Colorado Springs, we've had a huge problem with Military personnel going off the rails and murdering people, so there's almost a standing gag order for the media on Military personnel or Vets murdering or attempting to murder people. As of this, no one knows why he went on a shooting rampage, and no one knows why it's not being reported, not even in the Police Blotter. The only thing I've been able to find is his Court Docket, and he will be appearing June 18th, first appearance, court case 2014CR2395 for El Paso county. I can't even find what the actual charges are against him, we just took a guess after hearing from his wife what he did.

But, yeah, any reason at all to talk about 2nd Amendment rights and all that. Even the Good Guys with Guns are becoming dangerous.

He used the likeness of several people without permission.  Various celebrities have sued for, and won hundreds of thousands for the same act.  I hope the parents demand $1000.00 for each kid.  That should give Emory something to think about as he lives the rest of his life as a pauper.

It is the constitutional right of every person, regardless of gender, ethnicity, or creed, to be offended by those more ignorant of them. If getting offended by idiots makes you stop everything and whine about how you are unjustly persecuted due to stupid stereotypes, you waste time better used to study why these stereotypes exist in the first place. The strong push for political correctness and anti-bullying legislation are the last gasp of an older generation too ashamed to admit that their faults are just as bad as the establishment that preceded them. You cannot undo centuries of intolerance by simply making it "impolite" to broach subjects of social and international equality. The idiot doesn't care who they offend with their feeble rhetoric. Why should you?

Colorado Springs is surrounded by 5 military installations. A few years back we had a serious issue with troops being returned from the Middle East to Fort Carson. One group was running around as a group indiscriminately attempting to murder people. At first, they thought it was gang activity because there were a few drive bys, but they were only so successful with it. They then ran a lady down that was walking down the sidewalk, ran her over with their SUV and kept on going like nothing happened. After a few more murders, they caught them, then there was no news of anything at all. The news reported they have suspects in custody for a string of murders and attacks, then no other news came out. There was a special report in the local newspaper about it, then nothing again. Another GI was raping women, and ended up killing two of them because he was having issues getting it up. he turned himself in after murdering a special needs girl he had lured away from a tour.

Again, I can't really point to online resources about the stuff, because it was kept under wraps really tight, but here's a Rolling Stone article on what we went through out here, and why it's kept so hush-hush now.

I wasn't shocked by the guy carrying the gun, again, I didn't even notice the damned thing. Most my friends carry weapons or have them around and my last job was with the local PD, so EVERYONE was strapping there. What shocked me was how fast the owner reacted to the sight of a handgun. I was just minding my own business and all of a sudden he's all but throwing a guy out the front door.. Much of what I wrote in the previous post was paraphrased, because it happened so fast.
