True.
People that are not OK with themselves always seek some balance or cause; and they cling to it.

A mistranslated commandment that references murder, from a list of rules that explicitly notes that religion-approved killings are in no way murder, and in fact killing in the name of God is outright required for pretty much every offense down to using the wrong fork at dinner?  From the half of the bible that doctrinally doesn't apply to Christians unless they're also members of the tribe of Israel?

That sixth commandment?

But there is no gun violence problem in the US because "mass shooting" is overused and mental health care is the problem and somebody called an AR-15 an AK-47.

"Surely it is better for one wicked man to perish, than for a whole nation to dwindle in unbelief."  This was what God supposedly told the prophet Nephi, after Nephi objected to cutting off Laben's head.  Spoilers, Nephi then went ahead and cut off Laben's head, so he could steal Laban's Brass Plates (a forerunner to the Gold Plates Joseph Smith would eventually claim to have translated the Book of Mormon from).  This isn't a lone scripture, the Book of Mormon is filled with such violent imagery, where God commands his people to go murder a bunch of other people for being wicked.  Mormons don't have a problem with killing, if they believe they have God's permission.

Now in fairness, they don't normally run around killing unbelievers anymore, but in the 1850s in Utah, such teachings were a major factor in the Mount Meadows Massacre, and the lesser known Aiken Party Massacre, both separate cases were large bodies of over-zealous Mormons, probably under the direction of Brigham Young, murdered groups of people whose only crime was passing through Utah, without believing that the book of Mormon was the literal word of God.

That doesn't matter. Recently, some guy in Moncton Canada terrorized a city for 2 days after killing 3 cops. Therefore, gun controls doesn't work and if you question the integrity of the NRA, you a Stalinist fascist.

That counts a murder suicide as a mass shooting.  The Reynolds shooting sucks, but it was basically a murder/suicide on a school campus.  It had the potential to be a mass shooting, but fortunately it was stopped.

The first story in the Book of Mormon is where God tells Nephi to ignore that whole "Thou shalt not kill" thing and orders him to murder a dude so he can impersonate him to steal his stuff.

So first lesson in the Book of Mormon: Murder is wrong, unless the voices in your head tell you it's OK

"74 school shootings since Sandy Hook!" = repeating false propaganda.  CNN explicitly disavowed that figure.  The real number is 15, which is still high, but not quite once per month.

Most of the other 59 shootings were gangs or drug deals that happened near a school.
