No problems getting a job here.

You look like you're stoned out of your mind. You're hired.

Lol. I always get that. I don't smoke, but I have terminally squinty eyes. I'm well aware of it so I make sure I'm outgoing and engaged during the interview process.

dpzum1: Bedstead Polisher: I'm always puzzled by face tattoos. I saw a woman on the bus yesterday. She was attractive, but had brightly coloured hair and some tattoos on her face that were clearly decorative. She walked through the bus, polite, excusing herself as she squeezed past, so she might be a lovely person. But honestly, my first impression was that she was an idiot for tattooing her face.

Personally, I've never been a fan of tattoos, but I've realized that in this day and age, that majority of people have them. While I can't really judge people for having tattoos I find myself judging people based on where the tattoos are. And in a few years, it may be commonplace to have visible tattoos and no one will judge.

I know I'll have people telling me that I shouldn't judge, but it's human nature, you all do it for various reasons. Plus I've known enough tattooed people to know I shouldn't completely dismiss them because they are my friends and family members as well.

But I will never understand why people would permanently mark an easily viewed part of their body with a grotesque Garbage Pail Kid.

I got my tats long ago...before they were considered "in". And, two of them are visible, on my forearms.
I make it a point, and always have, not to judge a book by it's cover. Same as someone being overweight, too tall, too short, "weird looking", whatever. If someone is going to judge me by my tats, and assume I'm someone that I'm not, that's their loss.

I don't judge people on tats; I pick much more arbitrary things - like your lack of approved Fark links

I have a lower back tattoo. I didn't get it there to be trendy. I got it there because it's easy to cover up when I need to. It's a sword with a snake around it. It represents my fighting spirit. Some people say it looks like the medical symbol. If you get a tattoo get one that has personal meaning and save the money to get it done at a good place.

Begoggle: Delta1212: From the page:

Am I A Racist? Depends On What You Mean By "Racist"

It used to be that a "racist" was simply someone who hated others for their skin color. By that definition, I am not, nor have I ever been, a racist.

So that's a yes, then.

Sounds like Farkers who try to argue over the definition of pedophile.

But can I still complain about the people who use "ambivalent" to mean "apathetic"? (which is nearly an antonym...)

My 2 memorials to my deceased father and brother are beautiful and I get compliments on them all the time. (ones and owl and the other is an eagle) They have their initials under each one. If that makes me tacky or an idiot so be it. I think the author is an arsehole.

See, I can be judgmental too.

For me it`s the tribal tattoo on the upper left arm on someone wearing shades on the top of their head, a sleeveless top of some sort `to show off their guns`, long shorts and often flip flops. They appear to act as though they have the certain knowledge that every single thing they say is the funniest thing on the planet and they think they are really really cool.

It`s just a shame they are twats.

But the tattoo makes her look like someone drew on her with magic marker and she didn't bother to wash it off.

The thing is, most people who get tattoos really aren't doing it for some deep personal reason, they're doing it to say, "LOOK AT MEEEE!" Even the people who get one in places that are covered up by normal clothing, they freaking can't wait to show you. I get it, you want attention, hell, I'll give it to you, whatever.

Sure, sure.  But the same can be said of everything.  New hair cut?  LOOK AT MEEE!  Hours at the gym for those washboard abs....that's just so people can see them.  That fancy car you bought, that prestigous job you talk about, the 10k you ran in to 'fight cancer'....it's all just a one big 'look at me' after another.  Why do academic types hang their degrees on the wall?  LOOK AT ME.  Why do religious people wear chains/beads/icons...LOOK AT ME.  Makeup, fashion, anything branded people display intentionally, it's all just LOOK AT ME.  Whether it's the $1200 suit or the $250 nikes or whatever else.

I don't see that a reason to be for or against tattoos though.

Yep, except most everyone with a tattoo ascribes something super deep, when in reality, it's just LOOK AT MEEE...the fact that whatever they chose is indelible (on their skin, man) just makes it way cooler and you should totally respect it. Great, whatever.

I always enjoy Fark tattoo threads because the dicks from all sides come out.   Anyone that gets a tat chooses one (or many) that mean something to them.  For those with multiple, don't get pissed because some people don't understand and find it "white trash", you are looking for attention, aren't you?  OTOH, Some of the best conversations I've had at bars with both men and women, is when you engage them on the meaning of the tattoos up and down their arms, neck, etc.  Some very cool stories.  But the guy that has a Dallas Cowboys Star surrounded by five SB rings on his calf, I don't need to ask you because it's obvious you are an attention whore.  So now I'm being the dick.
