halfway there

I was hoping the 1 Audi would have a strong race. In my opinion that team deserved a good run after the shiat they went through during the week.

2014-06-14 09:08:42 PM
The EuroSport announcers just no longer give a shiat.

The poor old guy that FS2 has as a pit reporter may need a nap.

I just realized... we are barely over half way and have already topped the total mileage for Monaco, Indy and the Coke 600.

I've just seen one of the Porsche 919 pass on the outside in the Porsche curves.  They wouldn't be able to do that with only rear wheel drive.

/I've always wanted to see a 4WD dragster

crazy isn't it?

Also there's a 24 Hours of LeMans motorcycle race in September, though sadly it gets not much coverage. It doesn't help the the FIM World Endurance Championship is a total of four races.

It seems weird that the pit crew can just jump around and put hands on the car to push it in the garage.

Whereas when it's stuck on the course, we have to have the safety car circle the track and grab up some mechanics with high voltage gloves.

Never mind, that's because of the ground straps in the pit area.

Yep. Also they on the Bugatti Circuit not the full Circuit de la Sarthe, so no motorcycles on the straight of Mulsanne alas. Then again that means a fark ton of laps given the Bugatti Circuit is just 2.6 miles around.

Just got home from working safety at Sears Point (for NASA), got to do a few laps at non-racing speeds. Settling in to watch some of the race here before getting ready for day 2! Time to go see how the race is going for the teams I know about...

Well, no beer while there's racing going, at least for us, but...

NASA - National Auto Sport Association

Good amateur racing organization; my day consisted largely of sitting in a truck (or the air conditioned drag strip control room) waiting for cars to break and then towing them back to the paddock. If you want to watch, just show up at the track (our region charges $10 admission for the weekend). If you want to participate in safety, email your region's contact.

If you want to get out on the track, read up on the HPDE! (I wasn't doing that, but they had a special 45 minute period during lunch when people involved with the event in some way could go out behind the pace car for a few "parade laps").

Hmmm. I'll think about it. I like volunteering for fun stuff. It sounds fun.
I've gotta put in a seven day week for SCCA run offs this week.

Who won the truck race?

According to my feed, the lead Toyota vanished from the face of the earth and has yet to finish the third sector of it's 219th lap for the last 15 minutes. Now, techno!

Bubba Wallace.

It looked like John Hunter Nemechek had a legit shot, but Germain Quiroga in the 77 got together with him and cut his tire down.

Then it looked like Erik Jones in a KBM car was going to win, but Germain Quiroga in the 77 got together with him off the corner after he bobbled slightly. Didn't lift and spun him from the lead into the inside wall.

Then Bubba and the 77 battled it out, and Bubba pulled it off right as the 77 was closing on his rear bumper.

Well, I'm stoked for Bubba. Too bad about German, I saw some of his Toyota series Mexico races. He killed it there. Was hoping he could move up smoothly and not hit the ceiling too low.

Unfortunately, the front stretch stands only looked about half full, and the stands in the turn were completely empty. I fear you just called it. Another track that puts on great races, but just fails to attract a sustainable crowd.

The stream in the linked article is starting to repeat their filler clips. Had to watch stream all day at work. Girlfriend killed the idea of watching on TV until I belligerently pass out, so back to the stream. She can have the tube. The point being, they need more filler bullshiat on this stream.

I just have to say, your writeup is hilarious, because I'm just picturing Wallace seeing the 77 close in and saying "Oh, shiat."

No sleep yet, no booze on the clock and sure as hell am no mechanic! The number panel has to be illuminated and the ACO said ours wasn't working.

It's hard for a track to get the right date for their track. Notice that no tracks are running a second or third tier series on Memorial Day Sunday. Le Mans doesn't help. Anything happening in St. Louis this weekend? Even a good baseball match up can kill it. I like Gateway. I want them to succeed.

Yeah. IIRC, routine brake replacements are now a planned thing that a lot of GT teams do.

I heard a tech piece on it earlier. It's 4-8 bolts and a really stubborn quick release, depending on the car. Oh, and some temperature.

We're starting to see some interesting issues.

Porsche LMP1 having problems. Undefined. the Corvette mentioned earlier with the door, which turns out to be the illuminated number. The announcers on my stream must really be tired because they're begging people to send in demo tapes to become announcers.
