Is it too soon to discuss shovel control legislation?

Up to seven years for revving a chainsaw in a menacing fashion?  Well then, looks like I need a new way to wake up the kids.

Let's just call a spade a spade.

Tactically speaking a chainsaw is a clumsy weapon with a limited number of moves (varies by size of course) A shovel has a reach and speed advantage and if the shovel guy knows what he is about could put the chainsaw guy on the defensive

And a shovel is a surprisingly effective range weapon.

You must use proper technique, grasshopper.

Naw, I would still rather have a shovel or even either of these to fight a chainsaw.

Just remember shovelers, you only get ONE non-blade parry.  Then you have a short shovel and a stick.

I didn't see a specific ethnicity in this article, but according to this version, that may have been the problem.  http://minnesota.cbslocal.com/2014/06/13/tree-trimmer-allegedly-threa t ens-man-with-chainsaw/

Except chainsaws don't cut that well against a moving object.  The chainsaw will need the other guy take a defensive, so the shovel will be still long enough to set the chain in.

They're both idiots, but I thought it was going to be the guy on the ground to start trouble.  He didn't seem to understand what happens to the branches after they are cut, they fall to the ground and usually near the tree.  If you don't want branches falling near you, don't be near tree.  But alas, it is the guy who states a threat and grabs a weapon first who gets charged.

/and the guy in the tree needs to understand, the guys on the ground do need to yell to communicate to a guy holding a chainsaw, wearing ear protection, in a tree.

I think I'd rather have the shovel in a chainsaw vs shovel fight.  Its the superior weapon, really.

Lol you know I'm talking about the pointy ended shovel, right?

Yes, and I almost immediately worried that the joke is too far. If anyone thinks my comment is too close to the edge, report me and I'll accept my ban.

A shovel is fast, A shovel has reach, but a chainsaw only needs to touch you once and its over.

That being said though if you can hit the guard just right you can end the fight in an instant.

If I had to choose chainsaw I'd choose one of these:

I can't think of anything less useful in a fight than a chainsaw. A least a pillow, as a weapon, isn't dangerous to it's wielder.

Good choice, with the reach you can keep the farker off balance.
