Did it sound like that for their own-goal?

What in the......?

I remember something like this when I attended the University of Georgia in the early 80's. When they were the CHAMPS. If there was a home game, you could be anywhere in town, and know when they made a touchdown. You could hear people whooping and hollering everywhere.

/drunk, everybody so drunk.

My neighborhood sounds little worse than Moema. A lot of buildings and nearby bars that fire off ungodly amounts of fireworks with every GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL!

As for the onside goal - in a way yes, it did sound the same but with slightly less enthusiasm. The anti-Brazilian team folks are just as well armed but there are fewer of them.

If it gets out that you're watering down our drinks, we're going to fall down the "respectful" scale a ways.  Unless it's American beer, then you're just confirming what we already thought of it.

I do hope that Germany gets to the finals. (and lose)

Because I will be on the Autobahn, to see if I can get my old clunker past 130 mph one more time.

Oh man, I remember when the 1994 World Cup Championship was held at old Foxboro Stadium.  We lived in the heavily Portuguese and Brazilian area of Cambridge at the time.  When Brazil won, the freaking area erupted into a 12 hour orgy of honking cars, loud chicas, and fireworks.  I was pretty grumpy about the whole thing as we had just moved from a nice quiet neighborhood in Maryland to....this.

Cool about it now.  So long as nobody gets hurt, have your fun.

Just a shame poor Croatia had to play with a man less than Brazil, and the Brazilian extra man had the whistle.

The most interesting thing about soccer is the fans.

That's pretty hilarious.

Going down to a local bar today to watch Costa Rica vs. Uruguay. I can't wait to hear how the Ticos carry on when we score a goal. They're all pretty pumped already.

It's nice this neighborhood has this wonderful distraction to make them forget their horrible, hopeless, miserable lives.

It's nice to hear them cheering on their MVP, the Japanese ref who blew multiple calls in Brazil's favor during the first game.

Missing: the sound of a million hammers being cocked of the guns pointed at the family of that referee

That's hilarious, streets are deserted, citizens would probably be fined for NOT being in front of a tv set. I was in Barcelona many years ago when they had just beaten Real Madrid. Not before or since have I witnessed that level of pandemonium.

Anyone who has travelled Europe repeatedly knows that there is no group of people more ignorant, irritating and socially repulsive than a bus load of Italian tourists.

Meh. Same thing happens in Korea.

/used to it
/hate when the Korean national team games are on in the middle of the night and my wife is screaming at the TV while I'm trying to sleep.  Luckily, the games are on in the morning here for this World Cup.
/laughed my a** off at my wife when Korea got absolutely crushed by Ghana in their friendly a couple of days before the World Cup started.

I was in Brazil during the 94 World Cup. I was staying with friends in a smaller city, with few tall buildings so there wasn't quite as much noise after every goal, but there were still the firecrackers (besides the ones my friend set off). Then they won it all, and everyone went apeshiat.

That is hilarious. I tried real hard to find one that was in an incorrect spot.

At most, all I can say is that I have no experience with Russian, Scandanavian or Japanese tourists. Otherwise, damn funny.
