Oh, Egg. Although Seinfeld did it before AD, with Jerry's GF that everyone else had a problem with for no reason that was explained.

Do the height jokes about Jonah on Veep count as a recurring gag? "You're Frankenstein's monster, if his monster made entirely out of dead dicks" pretty much made season two for me.

/"You're not even a man, you're like an early draft of a man, where they sketched out a giant, mangled skeleton."
//People being mean to Jonah is pretty much my entire reason for watching Veep.
///Well, that, and Sue.

I'm not sure this counts but I love the pratfalls and physical comedy they're having the actress who plays Cam and Mitchell's daughter do on Modern Family. They're turning her into a little Buster Keaton.

Wtf?  That show was pretty much all running gags and most of them were glorious.

That was a pretty terrible list except for the Golden Girls.

Hi, I'm Larry, this is my brother Darryl, and this is my other brother Darryl...

TFA has a couple references to "literal running gags" for gags that do not involve running.

Does language mean nothing anymore?

The literal part is that it was literal gagging.

That wasn't the same gag/joke at all. And it was one episode (a bad one at that). And Michael's dislike for Anne was explained. So, in other words, the two have no resemblance to each other whatsoever.

In most episodes of South Park, the climactic scene includes the line "Don't you see?"

Pants full of macaroni!!: In most episodes of South Park, the climactic scene includes the line "Don't you see?"

"I've learned something today" was the running joke forever.

You know what I think the most clever joke is from "Up" (which is not recurring at all but  mcmnkyjust reminded me of it?

At the end when the dogs are flying the planes and all checking in, they all say "Grey 5, standing by.  Grey 3, standing by.  Grey 6, standing by"

They're all grey.  It's clever and probably missed by a lot of people.

At least on Angel no one is breaking the fourth wall to write homosexual incest fan fiction.
