Those are all illegal Al Qaeda immigrants who sneak up from Mexico to set off suicide bombs. Everybody knows that.

I'm surprised he didn't try to blow up the plane.  He's probably waiting for a better chance to meet his mentor and chief terrorist negotiat---

You know what?  I can't do it.

Qatar is not considered a terrorist group.  The Taliban isn't considered a terrorist group.  We, in no way, negotiated with terrorists.  Unless they are trying to insinuate that all Islamists are terrorists.

Because of course they are.

Charles Barkley will hook him up with some real nice Tejas fatties.

Excellent! Now the U.S media can began its ritual torture of the man for joining the Taliban in person.

Lots of stand-your-ground nutballs in Texas, I'm waiting for news that one of them managed to pull a Second Amendment Solution to the problem of such a huge traitor being allowed to stand on American soil.

Is it even safe to send him to Texas, I mean, in a serious manner?

Some dipshiat that thinks its cool to terrorize kids with an ar15 at chipotle will probably try and shoot him.

I dunno.  Texas has a pretty diverse range of ecosystems, from high desert to swamp marsh, and a lot of really interesting stuff in between.  My two favorite places are the Uvalde area, and around Fort Stockton.

I find the desert to be complicated and beautiful.  Fort Stockton is right there on the edge, kinda between the Permian Basin, and Big Bend.

How else do you think they inflate up their "90% of terrorists are Muslim" numbers?  If you equate the two, it becomes really easy.  "Oh ivory coast is just a civil war, but Syria is terrorists."

Oh, yes they are. The particular five dudes we were holding in GTMO weren't accused of specific terrorist actions, but the U.S. gummint has considered the Taliban a terrorist organization for quite awhile now. They do stuff like the Karachi airport attack, and shoot little girls in the face for going to school.

He's on an air force base there. As long as some dude doesn't get all workplace shooty on him, he's probably pretty secure.

This poor bastard has spent nearly twenty percent of his life being held as a prisoner by the Taliban.

That's almost one fifth of the entire time he's spent alive. Whatever he was when he was captured, he's a broken and beaten shadow of what he was or might have been. He does not deserve your opprobrium, nor do you have the right to look down on him.

I don't care what you  think you know about his actions. He's suffering and ill. Leave the poor bastard be, and let the justice system do its work. Your pathetic attempts to score political points on the head of a man tortured for five years do you no credit.

Really? Where? I don't doubt you, but I've had way better Italian food in California than I've ever found in Texas (at least in Austin and Houston, I haven't looked anywhere else).

sendtodave: Qatar is not considered a terrorist group.  The Taliban isn't considered a terrorist group.

Under the Bush doctrine, which is still the governing policy of the US foreign-relations-wise (Obama hasn't nixed it because in executive power terms it's essentially the One Ring and he's Isildur to Bush's Sauron), the Taliban actually is legally equivalent to a terrorist group because of their direct support of such groups, most notably Al Quaeda.

Quatar  would be such as well if not for the current polite bit of policy fiction where we're pretending on an 'official' level that they aren't when even the dumbest media types have picked up on the fact that they're running literal terrorist training camps.

So, strictly speaking... you're wrong.

Can you point me to the law that says "we don't negotiate with groups that promote terrorism?"  Or, even the one that says "we don't negotiate with terrorists?"  Seems like it's more a rhetorical device than actual policy.

Heck, Israel was designated as a state which promotes terrorism, when did we stop dealing with them?
