The twelfth will be split into two, of course, as AMC will still be looking for their fourth hit show.

I started getting the comic WAY back with issue #2 and I went up to, oh, #105 or so. Everything after the prison is a downhill ride and if the show follows the comic at all, it will rapidly become apparent that the only long term plan is to re-play some of the same few plot points but from slightly different perspectives.

This shiat is just porn for militia loons. It got so boring so fast. Sadists just like the jack off fantasies of shooting anyone they want.

Last few issues have been excellent. Very happy with the improvement. Hopefully the show follows suit.

?

90% of it is quasi-feudal fantasy politics, and 5% or so is people killing the fark out of each other.

The sex is actually fairly toned down compared to Rome, which is the show's primary writing and visual reference point.

// Which is a good thing, because after the first book or so it becomes clear that Martin's actually a pretty terrible writer and he just lucked out or was on his meds during the first book, whereas Rome is one of TV's best dramatic shows.  The show has already improved the quality of the writing  massively over that of the GOT books.

Man...a zombie attack would be such a buzzkill. I mean, check this out, a deer ate my roses. It kind of pissed me off, then again, I get to see deer up close and feel awesome for a bit in a way. Love animals.

So what's my point? The zombies would trample my roses and saplings! That would get old fast.

On top of that, I don't want their disease carrying bodies dropping bits of nastiness over my yard, front or back.

Everyone has their genius fantasy of defense: "I'm gonna dig a ditch'; I'm gonna have gun turrets.; I'm gonna blah blah:"

Here's what I would do: build my defenses high as possible-and cover it all with KY jelly.

Let's see the undead get past my Slip n' Slide trap, biatches!  As a bonus, Benny Hill music will be played over the loudspeakers for my amusement and add the to bonhomie of the neighborhood.

They already do the split seasons on this show (so annoying).... so if they stop calling them say 4a and 4b, 12 is easily possible.

It'd be awesome to have a great long-running show about the zombie apocalypse.  Too bad WD isn't that show, unless everyone in the zombie apocalypse is going to die of boredom.

GOT has well-developed characters, compelling story lines and a real willingness to tackle the unconventional (i.e. killing off "heroes").

WD has poorly developed and almost unanimously unlikeable characters, story lines that could have been drawn out of a hat, and a willingness to bore the audience to death.

I'll take GOT, thanks.

Let's see here:  Walking dead has stupid people doing stupid things for stupid reasons.  Sometimes they pay a small price for stupid, but not usually.

Game of Thrones has a mix of smart people, people who think they are smarter than they are, stupid people and mean people, all of whom act consistently with their character throughout creating a series of cascading consequences that invoke deeper themes relating to humanity and politics.

Walking dead has zombies (sometimes, except for Season 2) that are sometimes killed in creative ways.

Game of Thrones has pseudo-zombies (White Walkers) along with dragons, Dire Wolves, Dothraki hordes, wildly different cultures and locales, the War of Five Kings, massive battles, intense, well-choreographed fights, numerous gruesome deaths, love, sex, nudity of both genders, incredible cinematography, interesting plotting and scheming, an uncertain place in a cosmos where gods may exist and may provide some powers to followers, but whether for good or ill remains unknown.

Walking dead has... crossbows?

Game of Thrones have every medieval weapon ever used and then some, from family heirloom swords to a giant, cliff-sweeping reaper, alchemical fire, and burning kegs, axes, clubs, spears, the whole lot.

Why are you still bothering with Walking Dead?

Ok. I'm gonna be that guy. I love the show. I hate that they split the seasons. I hadn't read the comic until about 2 months ago. I think it's great they changed the outcome of different characters. It gives each entity its own singularity.

Your under the false impression that TWD is about the zombies. It's not. It's about the fall of modern civilization. If everybody on the show made smart well thought choices it would get boring fast. Unlike the people in GOT they haven't been scheming thier adult lives against each other. They were thrown into a bad situation and they surviving.

I really don't understand the dislike for walking dead, I like the show and I like where the plot is going. Its kept me interested for a few seasons and normally I get bored (like star trek) after 2-3 seasons. Someone mentioned Game of Thrones? A show I barely could watch season 1.

A midget and some boobs is all I can remember from Season 1, not sure why there is a comparison.

Because the two series are on at different times? I didn't realize I had to "go steady" with one or the other (I would choose GOT by a mile).

My problem with both series is that it is obvious (and perhaps necessary) that there will never be a good resolution to any of the story lines. Both series are all about allowing the viewer to hope that things are about to improve and then pulling the rug out from under them. That gets frustrating after a while and really diminishes my desire to keep watching.

That would make sense, I seen enough of the hipster threads "DOWN WITH CABLE!!!". Granted I mostly watch netflix as well, but I have free cable because of my rentals, if it wasn't for AMC I wouldn't of found shows like Hell on Wheels and Walking dead.
Generally its hard to find decent shows to watch, but I learned anything Fark hates, has to be a decent show where as Firefly probably sucks ass.

For my part, because there isn't a single character I can sympathize or identify with.  They're all wholly unlikeable, even Rick and the Nice Old Guy With The Beard.  Snark aside, not one of them feels like a real person.  The faster they get eaten and this show goes off the air, the better.

the walking dead tv show has dramatically improved, from about where they retcon the governor's prison assault to the current episode.  if you haven't watched the show, watch the first two or three episodes of season one, the first couple and middle couple and last episode of season 2, about the last four to six episodes of season 3, and then all of season 4.  because most of what I say to skip suck suck suck.  The show is best when it is aping the comic while slightly changing things to keep it fresh.  Season One started fantastic as it was the comic brought to life, but then went off the rails a bit quickly.  Most of season 2 is farking terrible however and a good chunk of season 3 is not very good.  The show started improving in the latter half of season 3 and became a good to great show in season 4.

the walking dead comic has improved because it has skipped ahead two years in time, and now they have built a functioning society.  If you haven't read the comic, start at issue 127 and go from there if you don't want to read a sort of repetitious story, altho the all-out-war arc was pretty good.

I feel like the two bolded sentences, when combined, reflect a flawed outlook.

Real life is full of unlikeable people who aren't even trolling for attention, they just naturally behave in a manner that doesn't really draw favor. It's dealing with those unlikeables that challenges us and, on the whole, makes us better people.
