I think being excommunicated could be a great way of getting them off your driveway.

2014-06-12 04:54:21 PM
Coincidentally, every sidebar ad I've gotten on every Fark page for the last couple of days has been an ad from the Mormon Church telling me about how great it is to be a Mormon and I should be one too.  Coincidence?

/Yes, I still see ads on Fark, because our work computers are locked down so that non-admin users can't download or install any programs, including ad blockers, so I just have to deal with it

Meh. I know people who were excommunicated for much less. It's like being thrown out of the bar at Applebee's. Wear it like a badge of honor.

My sympathy for the lady is tempered by the fact that the Norman faith is simply idiotic.

It's outright horrifying the stupid shiat people are willing to believe.

All religion is delusion.
People have been making up shiat since day one.
Every single splinter group, which then became mainstream started in exactly the same way.
Enough people wanted to change the dogma, AKA, more power for themselves.

On a lark, I once went through the "casual encounters" section of craigslist in salt lake city and there is a surprising number of married mormon hook-up ads.

I wonder what the church thinks about THAT.

Being excommunicated by a religion is basically a group of crazy people telling you "Sorry, you just don't fit into our group." Although by wanting to be a priest she's pretty much got her own brand of craziness anyway. Just like every black person who was a member of the LDS before the late '70's. Stockholm syndrome happening there.

Cue the Fark Mormon apologists to come in here and tell us how they are just a regular normal church and how there's nothing weird about magic underwear, Quakers on the moon, and God living on planet Kolob.

Because People in power are Stupid: I think being excommunicated could be a great way of getting them off your driveway.

Just be excited when you answer the door and say that you are happy they are there because you would like to talk to them about your lord and savior jesus Christ....and act like you are not going to take no for answer.  Has worked for me three times.

Also I have learned the following having Mormon friends:

Want to have your stash of liquor destroyed?  Invite a Mormon friend
Want to make sure no one touches it?  Invite 2

2014-06-12 07:55:08 PM
Seriously, if you belong to any organized religion that tells you to pray to their invisible sky wizard that does nothing for you, never talks to you, or any of their followers, follow their ahem....HIS rules, and give them your money, you deserve to be booted. Hell, they probably did you a favor. Join a club that you can have fun at, not some bloated theocracy that tells you how to live.

/seriously.

Subby didn't read the article.  Ms. Kelly has not been excommunicated, although that may happen.  My opinion?  If one doesn't agree with her/his church, there are plenty to choose from.  Find one that agrees with your beliefs.

Get a portable browser on a flash drive then. I use Firefox Portable and Chrome Portable all the time to get around that limitation. The apps still let you do almost anything you want without needing to actually install a program.

/I also see ads on Fark, but only because I choose to support Drew's habits indirectly (too cheap for TF.)

Nope. I see it was on from 2003 to 2006, originally. I worked night shift in those years. Didn't get to watch much television.
