Once people figure out what its like to live in their Islamic state - beatings, beheddings, stonings, cruxifictions, etc..., they'll find its not such a nice place.

Although i guess living under sharia law might be better than no law at all, which is how corrupt the rest of Iraq is.

Well, there are plenty of religious states around the world.

'Murica. Iran. Israel. England. Texas.

Let's ask John McCain.
Oh wait, he ran out of a closed door meeting about security in the Middle East to biatch and moan about something.
Again.

McCain left the closed-door briefing after only a matter of minutes, telling reporters the security situation in Iraq "is the greatest threat since the Cold War."

Israel is not particularly religious. It is a modern Jewish state. The governing law is not based on the Old Testament. The Jewish state was about survival as a people.

Depending how strict their doctrine is they could start to have factions form and then that will be a holy civil war or they could just go back to war with Iran.

But for Sunni Iraqis, such is preferable to living under Maliki.

Yeah, Maliki is that much of an asshole.

Jews in general and the ultra-Orthodox in particular have many special privileges in Israel.  It's definitely a religious state.

But then again, as mentioned previously, so is Great Britain.

(CNN) - The face of a balding, middle-aged man stares unsmilingly into the camera. He is dressed in a suit and tie and could pass for a midlevel bureaucrat.

One of the great things about the Internet is that you can just link us to the picture instead of devoting a paragraph to describing it. Or hell, I'd settle for "in addition to."

Yeah, GB is a religious state exactly like a farking sharia state. Whatever. I forgot how those anglicans still burn people at the stake while the queen does a lapdance for Georgie Porgie Pudding and Pie.

I only hope the Iraqi people are familiar with bad after school specials so they recognize how the dynamic works.

Seriously, never jump in the middle of a domestic squabble if you can help it. There's a good chance they'll BOTH turn on you for interfering before they go back to fighting each other. If there is to be any lasting peace they have to learn to do this for themselves and they have to want it and right now they don't want it. Interfering again isn't going to change anything. They haven't learned a damn thing and quite frankly, we have enough here at home to sort out.

So what if ISIS ends up controlling part of the region? Controlling territory is harder than it looks and they'll just be making themselves into a sitting target. They can have a taste of their own medicine then.

Watching The World Wars on History and hearing news out of Iraq. 95 years later, and the Treaty of Versailles still haunts us. Every modern middle eastern state was created from the ashes of the Ottoman Empire, random lines on a map drawn with no regard to the wants and desires of the people there. Held together initially as imperial territories and then by local strongmen. Each one was doomed to fail from the start.

We're in the Danger Zone.

^This. Once they establish themselves as an official state, then we have free reign to absolutely obliterate them when they step out of line and don't have to really worry about being tactical. Just contain the problem and let them be...basically the same as most of Africa.
