Let the shisming commence!

Well, OK.  As long as they also continue to sexually abuse people.

"The question of abortion will remain as very important," said Cardinal Daniel DiNardo of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston, Texas, after the vote at the national assembly in New Orleans. "There are pillars to the house and it is one of the pillars."

Yeah, Jesus really railed on and on and on about abortion. That guy never farking shut up about it.

Abortion is never not going to be a sin in the Catholic church. Francis never said it shouldn't be. The wailing and gnashing of teeth over it are supposed to be taken down a notch though.

MaudlinMutantMollusk: shisming

I imagine that's how "schisming" would sound if one had had about 35 communions in a day.

Actually, historically speaking, until the 20th century, a fetus wasn't human until it was born. The soul didn't enter until the quickening. (First breath, cry)

It was doctors who discovered that children was far more biologically fare more advanced in development than first thought.

Good.

Anything that hastens the Catholic Church's slide into complete irrelevance is fine with me.

in America, if the Religious message doesn't jive with local political message, there's going to be a problem, m'kay?

Hell, if it weren't for the American versions of Religion, people would be asking the question, "what's a Republican".

Maybe there should be some sort of inquisition to get these bishops back in line? They can't be expecting that.

They are thinking of the children.

The young, soft, tender, sweet, sweet children.Especially the boys.

And that's the farking problem!

Abortion is bad, birth control is bad, gay is bad. So, naturally, you held your annual conference in what could be described as one of the most proudly wicked cities in America. Great choice!

2014-06-12 06:14:59 PM
Of course they aren't going to listen, they make too much donation cash from derpy derps, and gain too much personal glory and status fighting the "evil abortionists".

But, when they drive it to a point of actually having a schism, they'll just end up another derpy protestant sect and will continue to fade into obscurity. So it's all good.

He opposes homosexuality. He opposes abortion.
Don't fool yourselves.

So the church is now run like a governmet now, where the legislative power can c*ck block the executive office?

At what point did these bishops get the right to veto the Pope?

Jesus didn't rail on about a lot of stuff, because he didn't need to teach people about what they already knew.

Remember, when he said "let he who is without sin cast the first stone", he was talking to people who actually stoned wrong-doers.

I'm a former Catholic myself.

I amazed how many people still fill the pews every Sunday, blissfully reverent, then go on ignoring everything they've been asked to do.

I was once told by the daughter of a Baptist minister that the real difference and source of the hate between the sects was "Catholics are rich, Baptists are poor, simple as that".

It's not that simple, but it is amusing.

When the number on the sign, "No. Days without a bishop sticking it to a little boy" is in the double digits we can talk.

But he also pointed out (rightly) that the bible talked about social justice, and aiding the poor, waaaaayyyy farking more than it talked about Abortion, or gay people. A LOT more.

Don't hold your breath.
There are around 1.2 billion Catholics in the world and around 75 million in the United States, where they make up almost a quarter of the total population.
