The whole question is bollocks.  Sure the bride or groom might be late because of it, but even if they were on time no one else would be there because, you know... the match!

Also, Brits are represented by more than just England at the WC.

Since when, 1998? When's the last time Scotland made it?

Also, my brother's college graduation is the same time as England-Italy, and he's more annoyed than I am.

My first wife was from France and we got married the day before the 1998 World Cup Final. I can't believe her family showed up, to be honest. I think it was because they genuinely didn't think France would win.

Dumb question. If they were really the diehards they claimed to be they wouldn't dare schedule a wedding during the World Cup tourney.

A work colleagues husband, and the priest performing the ceremony, were late to her wedding because of a World Cup Final.

Unless there was a major discount in the offing, making it a gamble, I don't know why anyone except people who hate football would book a wedding on the day of the world cup final, regardless of who's playing. It's once every 4 years, gotta make the most of it while it's here.

Hell my father was late to his own wedding (second) because he was lifting weights and he does that every day!

I have a wedding at the time of the ENG-ITA match, so I'm not getting a kick out of this...

It's a moot point. Everyone would be late thanks to their appalling national rail service and crushing traffic.
