Who's Bob Knight?

I wonder how 'The General' himself feels about this one. Probably none too happy.

I'd rather buy Michael Knight's house.

I wish something exciting like a bomb going off or a tragic school shooting would happen. Todays news is bland. Needs more violence!

2004-02-11 12:11:41 PM
It is furnished entirely with chairs to throw around.

i bet it reeks of whiskey and lube

The house is "near the end of a quiet cul-de-sac in one of the most desirable neighborhoods in Bloomington." I'm sure the property values rose considerably after Knight moved to Texas.

Is Jon Voit's car in the garage as well?

I would probably buy Bobby BROWN's house before Bobby Knight.... It would be interesting to find what he left behind and forgot he had.....
But Michael Knight's is just as well.....

he's nuts, but he won games, and insisted the guys went to class. he would go even more apeshiatt if dudes were cutting class.

not that I would want my son to play for him, after all, he's a psychopath.

I don't feel sorry for Len Bias....[He] was better than anyone in this room, but he's dead. He's not sick, he's not hurt, he's dead. He wanted to be one of the boys. He wanted to be cool. Well he was so cool, he's cold. He's cold as heck.

Bob Knight's touchy-feely halftime speech

how do I make the clicky-link in blue text?

I wouldn't want to buy a house with 'Asshole' painted all over it. You know, like the owners forehead.

Funny headline! It fits the article.

My Uncle used to run a basketball camp. When Knight was still coaching at West Point he was a guest speaker at the camp. All the kids were walking in to hear him speak and Knight tells one kid to go stand in the corner with his arms up (horizontal to his shoulders) Knight goes on to speak for 45mins. and evry time the kid started to put his arms down Knight told him to put them back up. After he's done my uncle asked him why he did that to the kid. Knight goes,"This is a basketball camp, right?" "Yeah." my uncle says. "Well that kid was wearing a football jersey."

He'll throw them in for nothin !
Redundant, I know someone already said it. Oh well.

The house's asking price will make you choke !

$375k for a 4,700 square foot house?? That's dirt cheap. A house like that would go for a cool million in my parts.

Man, I never get tired of hearing that speech.

Great headline, also.

No, really, who is this guy?

He's some asshole who has something to do with basketball or something. The sad thing is, the only reason anyone's ever heard of him is because he's an asshole. Not a very good way to go through life if you ask me. I'd rather be unknown than famous for my assholery.

There most likely is some residual poltergeist activity...I swear if you bottled that d00d's rage, it'd power Cincinnati for a year...

2004-02-11 12:30:55 PM
Bobby Knight should be fired and never allowed to coach again. Fark him. Fark him right in his stupid ass.

2004-02-11 12:33:42 PM
IKE2010- Yeah in my part of Atlanta a house that size would be a cool mil easy but we're talking Indiana here. INDIANA

2004-02-11 12:35:47 PM
I happen to like Bob Knight. Say what you will about him, he's forgotten more about basketball than most current coaches will ever know. Plus he's always great in post game interviews. Had someone who's not my boss came up to me in a public place and started mouthing off, I'd have punched him in the face. Keep on keeping on Bobby. One more thing, if you doubt Knight's coaching ability, consider this. He's won 3 national championships, including an undefeated season, and only one of his former players, Isaiah Thomas, ever made an NBA All Star Team.

The sad thing is, the only reason anyone's ever heard of him is because he's an asshole
That and the 3 national championships, graduation rates of his players, and motivational techniques.
But I agree with you, he is an @$$.

2004-02-11 12:39:15 PM
Bob Knight is a man with a temper. And he is a fine coach. As long as he doesn't kill anyone that doesn't have it coming to him, I'm fine with that. And I don't even like basketball. Being scared of people with a temper is wussie.

2004-02-11 12:41:03 PM
Being scared of people with a temper is wussie.

Is it ok for a player to be scared of a coach that has choked and kicked other players in the past?

2004-02-11 12:42:20 PM
Still not the winningest coach:

"but I do not think the ends justify the means in this case."

I can't speak for others, of course, but I don't think the ends justify the means either. However, I am not willing to ignore the good for the bad. One cannot separate a person into the pieces one prefers/dislikes so as to recharacterize said person as a whole (or @$$|-|0|_3). Would anyone here like to be characterized soley by their worst moments (I saw you with that goat!)? I didn't think so.

"a coach that has choked and kicked other players in the past"

Lies.

He allegedly choked one player. The "investigation" ended without a final "conclusion" on this one.

He kicked one player (his son Pat)'s chair during a time out. He did not kick the player.

2004-02-11 12:46:46 PM
feh, the house is ugly.

Being scared of getting kicked and choked by the coach is wussie. Take it like a man. We aren't talking about little girls here.

If Knight got in my face and started screaming like he did in that audio clip, I think I would piss my pants. Literally. Then I would go out after the half and start missing layups and free throws. A bit counter-productive, methinks.

2004-02-11 12:59:15 PM
Anyone who has ever been through Military Basic Training knows what it's like to deal with a Bobby Knight. While Knight may have many faults, there are some kids in this world who need the kind of discipline that Bobby Knight can instill. Which would you rather deal with, a Bobby Knight or the hundreds of kids who feel they are entitled simply because they are more physically gifted in a game. If I had a son who could play basketball, I'd love for him to play for Bobby Knight.

ole Bobby has been popping up so frequently in headlines these days i almost feel like we need a [KNIGHT] tag.

lunist

I get the feeling we don't have the whole story or there's more we're missing aboutKnight.

Thras

Me, I wouldn't last a day with him as coach: I'd pop him in the jaw once I got sick of his useless yelling and threats. But some people aren't that way.

My big thing against Knight is his attitude. I don't farking care how well he's done: that kind of negative attitude is not acceptable. And I feel the same about Randy Moss and Warrren Sapp. Whatever happened to carrying yourself with some dignity or maturity?
