(LiveLeak)   Yeah your dog may he tough, but he's not "stalk and kill a king cobra" tough. And the owner better make with the steaks if he knows what's good for him   (liveleak.com) divider line 25

"Oh, my dog's about to be killed by a snake! Better bust out the phone cam."

Asshole.

That's not a puppy, but a well trained adult dog. The snake looked a bit lethargic, like it didn't even give any warning strikes to the dog. It's staged. Anyone know the language they were speaking? Indian?

Mark Ratner: The snake looked a bit lethargic

Some Cobra's are kept as pets and although not tame, are not as adept at defense as a wild snake.

Case in point:  http://youtu.be/B-W6ct08Hs0

Yeah, put me in the group that's wondering about the legitimacy of all of this. The snake sure seemd like it was half asleep, and if someone's gonna take the time to record it, you gotta wonder if the thing had been milked, too.

Most plausible legit reason to be calmly recording this would be that there are relatively frequent cobra visitations and the dog always wins. Otherwise, it smells like a dead snake...

your dog wants snake?

Cobras are about as big around as an "OK" hand gesture. Their spine's a bit thinner than a #2 pencil.

Most dogs could kill one in a single bite if they tried. Mongoose kill snakes all the time, and mongoose are tiny.

That dog showed that Cobra no mercy.

My first thought was, "Must be a Terrier...", so I at least got the group right, if not the breed. : )

If that dog had grabbed it and thrown it directly at the asshat holding the camera, and the snake nailed him, I would have laughed so hard, there'd be shiat pouring off my office chair till Monday...

/and I agree the snake looked like it was old / drugged / stunned / sleepy / just had a whopper of an orgasm

In my yard the dog would have learned what a shotgun sounds like.

It seems like this dog was actually trained to do this.  The quick bite on the tail and then retreat to see if the snake was still active.  I am guessing that the snake was still prepped for the encounter (milked, fed a ton, kept cold) but still that did not seem like natural behavior for any of the dogs I have owned when it comes to snakes.

my hunting dog would have just clamped down, shook it, until the venom from the multitudes of bites finally killed her (which was a distinct possibility once with a cottonmouth... .38 snakeshot for the win!)

I remember reading a UPI story decades ago, about a baby left unattended for a moment on a blanket on the front lawn of an Indian home. When the nanny returned, she immediately spied a cobra poised to strike the baby. Before she could move, the child grabbed the cobra, placed it's head in her mouth and bit the cobra to death.

Clearly setup, but still neat.

Yeah, that dog has done that several times before. Circled the snake and waited for the right moment to attack.

And of course the breed is also well suited for killing small creatures.

Why would you let your dog do that?

I found the guy's guttural chuckling as one creature tears another apart to be profoundly depressing.  I understand that a dangerous cobra can't be left to run loose in the backyard.  But finding humor in that kind of thing is warped.

Dogs have filled many other roles aside from being household pets for thousands of years.

That said, I would never let my dog do something like that. I believe the cobra would win if she were to try.

Probably more of a tension laugh. The dog is in danger the entire time. Our neighbor used to have a terrier that would go crazy if you even said the word "snake".  I've seen it kill over a dozen rattlers, and it did it just like this dog.

Yea he's just a careless sob, he should have sent his 5 yo daughter to dispatch the snake with a rake.
