So many questions that I'm not sure I want the answers to from that comment...

Seriously, I didn't recognize a single song on there and I'll be god damned if I'm going to listen to Coldplay. Nice token unheard of Mozart choice, though.

Never Gonna Fall in Love Again - Eric Carmen.

Where's Straight Outta Compton?

2014-06-12 02:21:58 AM
I'm trying to remember what was on my "chill" mix tape from way back when. Fleetwood Mac's "Albatross", the Beatles' "Sun King", the Grateful Dead's "Rosemary"...

That's not a song. That's someone taping a brick to a keyboard and leaving the room.

Darude Sandstorm?

Adele is on that list?

People yelling into microphones give me fits. That is not relaxing.

Hah. Cold play too. Boring me and relaxing me both get me tired.

It's not good for sleeping, but pantera certainly makes me feel better when I have a cold.

My precise thought. That's just scary.

Well, it certainly relaxed my bowels.

2014-06-12 03:51:15 AM
I was thinking it would be "Sleepless".

I agree with 'Albatross' by Fleetwood Mac, just ultra-relaxing.  Can't believe that Adele song is on there, give's me the heebie-jeebies.

Also relaxing:  Earth 2 by Earth.

The people who did this study -- they know Ambient exists, right?

(Weightless sounds like an unused b-side from the Warp Records catalog circa mid-90s)

Hey, Marconi Union!  Finally something I really like is mentioned in a link on Fark.  I think that's like a first.

That said, there's tons of ambient music out there, so it's hard to say this is the most relaxing piece of music ever.

/Marconi Union do post-rock, downtempo, ambient, and techno, so this track is not really indicative of their overall sound.

//"Ambiant Otaku" by Tetsu Inoue and "Structures From Silence" by Steve Roach are the most relaxing pieces of music of all time!  OF ALL TIME!

///still need to listen to the three new Solar Fields compilations.

The author has obviously never heard Brian Eno's 'Discreet Music'.

The first thing that came to mind when I read the headline was "Julie With..." from Before and After Science.

Not surprised to see Watermark on the list.  Enya is pretty much my go-to for relaxing music.

/'Drifting' is another song by her that I'd nominate as well

What an odd list. No Eno, no Vangelis, no Tangerine Dream, etc. But you get Coldplay and Adele.

No Crash Test Dummies "Mmm Mmm Mmm"??

2014-06-12 08:29:43 AM
Nope. There were a couple of high notes there that made me cringe. Like someone running their nails down the blackboard. But, again, I don't think these songs are for me since I can hear the electronic buzz of old televisions which I learned from an early age only a small percentage of people can hear. High notes are painful to me. I wonder what this song sounds like to other people.

2014-06-12 08:31:24 AM
It worked for me. I was asleep long before the end of the song. Of course, it could just be all that codeine and Nytol I had before coming to bed last night.

2014-06-12 08:38:00 AM
That wasn't good, and I couldn't hear any rhythm either. Also, 60 bpm heart rate would be faster than my normal of 54 bpm. So fails all around.

Apparently not.
That, or classical relaxes me. If a song has words it will just distract me.

Namaste.
